Woman Calls 911 because she's late to Birthday Party

A woman called 911 after a parked ambulance made her late to her child's birthday party.
What has happened to America?... I mean, really?... It's not like the patient was dying... they could have easily moved the ambulance for her, right?...

What about making sure the pt is able to get on with their life?
People are so dang selfish these days...when did we stop thinking about others?
So many thought are racing through my head about the dingbat but most aren't forum friendly.
To me this ranks right up there with the 911 Burger King call because they messed up her burger and she was mad that they wouldn't fix it.

I bet she wouldn't feel that way if it was one her relatives.
Irriates me almost as much as the guy who told me I was number 1 with him when I was going Code 3 to a call (lights and sirens). He was going 30, and wouldn't move over.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to when I read that post but you beat me to it. One of the officers I used to work with proved this case all the way to the Court of Criminal Appeals (John Pastrano, was a Caldwell County Deputy when he wrote this ticket). Someone did exactly this to him while he was driving home. He had them stopped and wrote the ticket and report. The courts upheld his being the offended party (which is contrary to a lot of officer's beliefs) but he lost at the CCA. He forgot the second element and did not include in the report that it tended to provoke him to an immediate breach of the peace but his training as a peace officer allowed him to keep control and prevent the breach. Hard to believe someone fought a class C misdemeanor ticket that far, with no other charges involved, but they did.

I don't know how many are prosecuted but the law is Texas transportation code 545.156

I don't know, I have heard two conflicting things with my job...one is that the lights and sirens don;t GIVE us right of way, they only alert other driver that we need past them and that we are REQUESTING the right of way.
Then on the other hand I've heard that there is a citable offense for "failure to yield to an emergency vehicle".
I'm not sure which is correct.
Mayne one of our resident LEO'c can help us out.
As far people flipping us off while running hot....its amazing that it happens, but it happens to the best of us. It surprises and infuriates me each time it happens.

Lights and Siren or Code 3 does not give you the right of way. You still must safely navigate traffic as they are doing their normal routine. But, they can be cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle if they purposely do not try and find a safe place to move over. The only time I have seen this cited was after a police pursuit as an additional charge to the runner, or someone purposely blocking an emergency vehicle from progressing into an area. Saw this during a protest rally when some people formed a human barricade to prevent state troopers from entering the area to arrest some bikers from gang that were trashing a state park.

It's sad to think that this woman is teaching her child how she thinks. We can only hope the kid picks up some common sense and concern for others from someone else.
