Charles - Question re: SB354

As we all know when Wentworth was unable to secure the necessary votes for SB354, he when with plan B and attached SB354 as amendments to SB5 first and then to SB1581 when SB5 was withdrawn. My question is this, why didn't Wentworth offer SB354 as an amendment to SB905? As I see it, there would not have been an issue with not being germane, both bill dealt with where and who was allowed to carry. SB905 had more than enough support to pass since they wanted that special elitist privilege. I know that he opposed SB905 on principle, as did I, but it would have been a win-win situation to offer SB354 as an amendment to SB905. Either they voted to pass it and we end with campus carry or they vote it down and they would not get the special elitist exemption they wanted. In my opinion that would have been a better strategy than trying to attach SB354 to college fiscal bills.

Boy, that's a very good question. I don't know the behind-the-scenes answer on that, but it would have been VERY interesting to watch the Republican majority vote against the amendment...

I agree completely, but we must remember that sb905 was written for a different "class" of people then us lowly citizens.

I loathe these elitist who tax us and restrict our God given rights, all the while acting as if theirs' doesn't stink.

The more I ponder SB905, the more furious I get.

That's all I'm sayin.

Sorry, but campus-carry was not close to being germane on SB905. The caption for SB905 reads, "Relating to the application of certain concealed handgun license laws to statewide elected officials, certain current and former members of the legislature, and certain federal and state employees." At most, a campus-carry provision for the folks listed in the caption would be the only thing germane.

I can't say more at this time, but the Kleinschmidt amendment would have been offered to smoke out something, as it too would not have been germane.

Chas.

I notice the germane question doesn't come up when the socialists sneak things in. Maybe the conservatives know which side Straus favors.
