My New CMP M1

My CMP M1 showed up a few days ago, thought I would share some pics. Decided on a service grade H&R and this one is a real beauty! It's way nicer than myt brother's 3 service grade M1's. Has new CMP wood and the parkerized finish shows almost no wear on the reciever/bolt or the magazine floorplate/trigger guard. The only signifigant wear is around the bayonet lug area. Also ordered a Bayonet made by American Fork and Hoe, it's still slathered in Cosmoline at the moment.
The photos are not the best as I was using my phone, will get some better ones up later.

Congrats on the Garand!

Mine quickly became one of my favorite rifles to shoot.

Here was my first one (CG HRA), Taste the grease :)

It has been followed by some a couple SG SA, all have been good shooters.

Send it in and wait with delicious anticipation for the rifle to arrive.

When you open the box you will feel like a child on Christmas morning.

When you detail strip, clean, and reassemble the M1 you will feel history in your hands.

And nothing can prepare you for the feeling when you hold on the target and fire it for the first time.

You are in for a real, real excellent experience!

So I was passing through Anniston, AL and there was this little place that sells a bunch of M1's right off the interstate...

I had to "modify" my trip route but I went by there and it was a very cool experience. I picked up a service grade HRA that looks quite similar to yours, new wood, almost no wear at all so I'm guessing the barrel is new. 192 rounds of M2 as well as a M85(?) bayonet. They had 200rd boxes of 30 cal tracers there for 80 bucks and i'm kicking myself for not getting some.

I can't wait to shoot it, I think I'm going out tomorrow to the range i'll snap a few photos for yall.
