Dan Patrick - Facebook Post today

From Dan Patrick's Facebook Post today about 0200:
Bad news Democrats filibustered & slow played bills until midnight killing 4 must pass bills. Good news-I'll ask, & I'm sure others will, to put following on special session call: Sanctuary cities, Congressional map, Campus Carry, 10th Amendment Resolution, Healthcare Compact, & HB 1937 TSA ANTI GROPING BILL. We should not use 21 blocker rule in special and pass everything D's blocked
I assume Dan knows if it is possible to get it back on for vote or not, or he wouldn't post this.... does this mean it isn't dead yet?

If there's a special session, it could still be alive.

Just because he asks, doesn't mean the governor will say yes. But, chances are he will.

And no "21 blocker" rule would be awesome on this.

Shhhh lol
I wonder if Perry is already getting flooded with the anti's :reddevil :bigmouth faxes/calls/e-mails/tweets/visits
Patrick's Facebook already has reply 1 hr ago "Campus Carry isn't worth Special Session ( from someone who places little value on life)
Will the Dems fare better or worse in a special? There is still time to undo the maneuver, if six Democrats join the Rs in a 4/5 vote to suspend the rules today.

---

This was one of those times when it was useful to have the 2/3 rule, so the Dems could be safely blamed. Of course, in a special, the rule wouldn’t apply. It’s up to Perry to decide what is on the agenda, and he has already promised a special as early as tomorrow.

a 25-vote super-majority could suspend the rules and pass the bill. That would presumably require support from 19 Republicans and six Democrats. It wasn’t clear late Sunday if Senate leaders could muster the 25 votes needed. “I have no idea,” Dewhurst said when asked.

Representative Isaac "HINTED" yesterday on Twitter "Special session for budget and .... maybe other things ...... wonder if Davis knows a 2/3 won't be needed in Special" ...
Proponents of the pro-concealed carry resolution intend its approval to facilitate the passage of HB 86 in the state legislature. The legislation would compel both public and private institutions of higher education to allow anyone with CHLs to possess handguns on campus, though the weapons would have to remain concealed. State Representative-elect Jason Isaac (R-Dripping Springs), whose district will include Texas State, has expressed support for concealed carry on campus. http://www.newstreamz.com/2010/11/30/as ... esolution/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I can see antis who are teachers, calling Democrat Senators ... not knowing what to say; yes special no special i dunno ...

Concerned to see @DanPatrick post that we will now pass everything they blocked this session. Just focus on funding for schools? #txlege
1 hour ago

Would be great though to just get the "less controversial"HB 2178 passed (They can't say it FORCED schools to do a darn thing)... dunno if possible, but I'd be happy; though It died in Calendars in Reg Session.... I dunno rules on Special Sessions other than it's about what Perry says it's about.

We know it will be about TWIA and maybe "1811", hopefully it can be also about "1911s" ... too early to tell

We need a CHL encryption decoder ring so we can post public things here and not have the anti group read/decrypt/decode it.

When I called the governor's office yesterday (yes they were open) the lady taking the call said yes they were still getting and taking calls for a special session and yess they were taking comments. I commented on the campus carry and TSA bills.

What would prevent Strauss from just blocking it again like the last three times?

Probably a couple things ... like ...being blamed for causing another special session and costing taxpayers another 5 million with everyone pointing to him ..... with Davis it doesn't matter, she probably just got redistricted out of being re-elected, that's why she did it instead of another person.

This session got more publicity than prior ones.
I like how Perry points to Davis "she cost you 5 million dollars with her decision"
