I am looking for something to keep on the boat. Don't care what shape it is in, looking for something cheap. .410 or 12 Gauge is fine. DFW Area. Looking for something cheap and/or ugly.

Someone may respond with something, but in case they don't, keep an eye out for a used Remington 870. They can be had in short barrels and synthetic stocks, they're reliable, and they're cheap even when new.

My cheapness will shine through here...I have (2) 870's, one set of for hunting, one set up for home defense. I want something really cheap for the boat. If I could find another 870 the was beat to heck but still reliable I would pick it up for sure.

Until now, I hadn't given much thought to parting ways with it, but what would you say to a Mossberg 195? Its an old bolt-action 12 gauge that is magazine fed.

Check out dallasguns.com in the shotgun section, some good deals there, a 12ga new england pardener for $99, and some single shots cheap and a bolt action 20ga for $89.

Check with GT Distributors in Dallas. The Austin store periodically puts out a whole mess of LE trade in Mossberg 500s and Rem 870s that look like they've bounced around in a patrol car for 20-plus years (and likely have). These usually go between $100-$200 depending on condition.

if you're going to carry on a boat, I'd also highly recommend Duracoating all the metal parts. Did this with my Mossy 500 and I love it. Just a basic black (HK black I think it's called) and I don't worry about moisture (or even oil) on that gun anymore. Would be a perfect final finish to a beat up shotty that will spend the rest of its life on a boat. Duracoat is easy to apply to a shotgun with large internal parts and wide fit tolerances.

Are they only made in 12ga?
