I'm surprised there haven't been any Glock comments yet.

I like the STI but out of those three the hi power would be my choice. My girls step-father has one and before I held it the first thing he said was no I could not borrow it and no It was not for sale. There great in the hand!

OK, here's the requisite Glock response. "I love my Glock 26!" Please note, as it may have been missed on every internet gun forum (at least 1 million times a day) that this phrase is similar to:

1. "I love my XD!"
2. I love my Kimber!"
3. "I love my Springer!"
4. "I love my (add the manufacturer of your choice here)!

This statement must be absolute proof that this individual's gun is vastly superior to all others for a variety of reasons. The main reason being, "I love my __________!"

Now, I own 4 3 -3 1/2" barreled pistols. I like (note that I did say love) each of them for different reasons. It all boils down to personal choice. Do YOU shoot it well? Is it reliable? etc. There are dozens of very fine 9mm pistols out there, and anyone who claims to have the "ultimate" one, is simply delusional, or in Internet speak, "A Fan Boy."

BTW, the day I bought my G26 I fired the G26 and the XD9 side by side w/50 rds each. I was far more accurate with the G26, and it felt better in my hand, so that's the one I bought.

i have a m&p 9c. i compared it to by feel only to a G26 and xdm. The 9c won based on this alone.

i really like everything about this gun.

If you like the Browning Hi Power then I would also look at the CZ 75 and CZ 75 compact. They are slim, accurate, double stack, and reliable. Very similar to 1911 controls other than the da/sa trigger. I love every one I own.

My vote goes to the Hi Power the trigger isn't quite as good as a 1911 out of the box, with removal of the magazine "safety" and some shooting they get really good. The Hi Power is more reliable than a 9mm 1911 simply because it was designed for 9mm.

Have you considered the EMP from Sringer? I voted for the loaded which is a great pistol, but since you're talking 9mm you should check out the EMP. If you can get your hands on one and shoot it, you'll never look back.

I shoot pretty good with my G26 a while back in IDPA, but every time I shoot my Sig P229, it reminds me of the difference between a Lexus and a Toyota.

I have a BHP, switched to it from a Glock 17 because it fits in the hand dp very nicely. It is true that to get the best trigger out of it you need to remove the mag disconnect (not to mention removing yet one more way to cause your gun to not fire). IIRC JMB wasn't able to use the same trigger system as the 1911 because he had sold the patent for the 1911 to Colt so he had to work around his own design.

A lot of BHP fans also like the CZ75 series, since it has a very similar design. I picked one up one time and did not favor it because the grip was somewhat bigger in circumference, and I felt it immediately. I have shorter fingers, and I think that is a/the reason a High Power feels so good -- for a double-stack it still has a fairly slim build. If your hand is bigger, the CZ's might also be a good choice for you.

No hard data, but I think there is something to be said for the BHP being designed for the 9mm, vs. scaling another pistol to it. Be aware tho, that some of the older BHPs, say prior to the 90s (maybe 80s) might have a problem feeding hollow points if they still have the "humped' feed ramp (which can be polished down to make it work). The original BHP was a military gun designed to work with FMJ. Late model BHPs of the last 20 or 30 years should not have a problem.

I have held and shot quite a few Hi Powers and boy do they shoot good. I have never bought one b/c of all the variations in models over the years...they are all used just about and I never want to get hosed by paying too much for a less desirable model. I guess I just need to educate myself or stick to my CZ's. I will say that I have some thin aluminum grips on one of my CZ 75's that really slim it up a lot. They are all great choices, just get the one that fits you bets.
