NY: Sharia law comes to NYC

In the SoHo neighborhood of New York City in April an NYC police officer reportedly "berated" a female cyclist who was wearing a skirt. The cyclist "says the officer told her that her skirt was dangerous because she could distract drivers and potentially cause them to crash, and he threatened to ticket her for that."

However, the cyclist was allowed to continue on her course of tempting men to have unclean thoughts.

I'm sure that was absolutely the most unholy vice practiced in NYC that day. :smilelol5:

What does any of this have to do with sharia law, its either a joke and not funny or you're being serious and that is funny. The officer was making a point about safety not the fact she was wearing a skirt.

Did you read the article? Did you read the final line in the article? Did you follow the link in the finial line of the article? Did you read the linked article?
If not ..the funny part is, you did not read and understand the entire content, and yet wanted to call someone out. :biggrinjester:
In general, this forum is better then that :patriot:

It would appear having read all the meterial linked, that there is a group in NYC that is being oppressive and forcing there will (sharia law like rulings) on there sheep. And at least some NYC PD, have a warped sence of what their duties are.. Namely enforcing a law, not making it up as they go to suite them.
Opinions very, what's yours based on the information provided .

Let me connect the dots for you.
  1. I was trying to be ironic (I guess I failed).
  2. In countries that have real Sharia law, such as Saudi Arabia and Iran, "vice police" patrol the streets and admonish women who dress immodestly (by their standards).
  3. New York City has always been on the cutting edge of fashion and loose moral standards. The notion that at this late date a lady in a skirt riding a bicycle is going to spook the horses is ludicrous.

I guess you must have read the article but didn't understand it.

The final line in the article referred to Jewish Hasidic rabbi's; Sharia law pertains to Islam. Last I checked, Jews and Muslims had some substantial differences.

So his question about what in the article had to do with Sharia law was pertinent.

Please READ WHAT I WROTE...

In any case, sharia law or ( and here is the hint) sharia like laws plus, silly antics of the NYC PD in the article, have a common thread.

Raise your hand if your only knowledge of sharia law is what you have read :thumbs2:

I thought the irony was well placed.

It sounds like an old Kevin Bacon movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footloose_%281984_film%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

How much grief is that officer getting from his colleagues today? "rlol"

Sharia is not Hasidic by a loooooong stretch.... While I'm not defending the "Morality Police" of any religion (all of them have them, formal or otherwise, don't kid yourself), this Jewish organizations modesty tenets are such a far cry from those of Sharia as to be insulting to those with sensitive predispositions on such subjects. A Hasidic member might be shunned, admonished or frowned upon for violating their modesty code, but never stoned, beaten, raped or tortured. To infer the two are similar is ..... incorrect.

Guys... don't run with this...

There is "no" officer. None has been identified. It's one woman's story. The lady in question is a model who works for a bicycle company that advertises by showing women in skirts. The whole thing is staged.

I used to live in SoHo (South Of Houston..... pronounced "Howston") back in 1972. Unless it has changed, most of the guys there could not have cared less about a girl in a miniskirt on a bicycle.

You don't wanna see the "girls" in skirts on SoCo (South Congress) here in Austin. Ever heard of Leslie Cochren. :eek6 That sight will wake you up at 7AM
