Reporter Ms. Lee Hancock has written a lengthy story on the gun which was used by the Muslim madman in the Fort Hood massacre.
For any who are not aware he used an FN 5-7 (aka Five Seven, and other variations), chambered for the 5.7 x 28 MM round.
The writer met with a "combat shooting friend", a female who allegedly made the comment about this gun:
"I've never been a fan of gun control, but that gun has no defensive purpose, no purpose at all, other than killing people".
Well, aren't all guns for killing people? The difference is that a good gun owner saves innocent lives, while a Muslim madman does evil with the same tool.
The reporter's friend knew someone who owned an FN 5-7 and the women went to the range and shot it.
The writer then rented a Glock 9MM and shot that for comparison. The writer could empty the FN 5-7's 20 round magazine in 8 seconds.
The author emptied the Glock's 15 round magazine in 14 seconds, which seems slowish to me.
LEO investigation of the crime scene revealed that Hassan had shot 146 rounds inside the building, 68 rounds outside the building.
He had started the attack with 16 or 17 loaded mags. At 20 rounds each, he started with either 320 or 340 rounds.
The rounds he was using were SS192's, reported to be the civilian version of body armor-piercing rounds usually only sold to LEO's.
The reporter has reported on the Fort Hood massacre in multiple stories, and since Nidal Hassan is not giving interviews from
his Bell County, Texas jail cell, she figured she'd do a piece on the gun itself.
Some interesting stats, but a hatchet job on the weapon itself.
