Ohio is about ready to allow people with concealed-carry permits to take their firearms into bars, restaurants, sports stadiums, and other venues that serve alcohol.

:headscratch Is this a good thing that Ohio does?

On the first day of October 2009, the state of Montana outlawed smoking in all public indoor places. Now, that is a good thing!

Texas needs a law that allows us to carry in bars and all the other non-allowed places.
Example - this past weekend my wife wanted to go hang out with friends at a bar.
I was driving, didn't drink, and normally don't drink anyway.
We were on the seawall in Galveston.
I would have preferred to have my guns on me, but nope, not allowed, even though I was not drinking.
Grrrrrrrrrr

BTW, there is no distinction in Ohio law between restaurants and bars, they are simply a "Class D" premises, which is a liquor license that allows on-premises consumption. There is no 51% distinction under the Ohio liquor law, so the concealed carry changes simply made it legal to be in a place that served alcohol.

Many of the stadiums in Ohio are owned by government entities, and government facilities are still forbidden in Ohio, so the fact that they are no longer banned because of alcohol doesn't help if they are owned by the city.

It's only good for those who believe in the Bill of Rights.
