We are trying to put together a UTAH CHL class for those who ALREADY hold a TX CHL in Irving. Wanted to know who would be interested.
A tentative date (Not Set As Of Yet) December 16. Cost would be $50.00 that includes picture and prints.

Man, I know I'm interested.
I'm thinking, personally about sometime after the first of the year, though.
I wanna take it with my ole lady, and she doesn't get a "piece" until after Christmas, so......
thanks, though.

Cassel - there is no shooting proficiency test for the Utah permit. A firearm is not required for this class.

Looks like we are good to go on Saturday, the 16th. Carlson says afternoon is better, so lets shoot for 1:00. We should be done no later than 4:00.
I have applications, will do fingerprints, notary, and pictures. You will need to make copies of your Texas driver's license and Texas CHL to send in with your application. If you want to take this class and don't already have a Texas CHL, then PM me.
I need a reply from you if you are coming, so that we know how many to plan for. Oh, I guess I need to tell you where...

We are definitely holding the Utah CFP Class on Saturday, Dec 16 at 1:00. This is your last chance this year to get your Utah CFP.
Class will be at:
Fellowship Baptist Church
1405 W. Pioneer Drive
Irving, TX 75061
972-253-1967
This class was originally just for Texas CHL holders, but you can still come, even if you don't have a Texas CHL. Cost is $50 (cash or check, no credit cards) and includes everything. You do not need a frearm or ammo for this class. There is NO range qualification.
Email or PM me if you have any questions. If you have not already let me know you are coming, that would be appreciated, so that we can make sure we have supplies and space for all.
See you there!

You guys and gals are going to like this class...
For champions of common sense, ease of paperwork, photographs, notary services, and now fingerprints...
This is going to rapidly become a full-service stop for a great "extra" permit to have in yer hip pocket!
Whats two hours of your time, $109 for 5 years, then $10, no renewal class or range-time after that???
llwatson and her husband are going to probably have to take this show on the road more often!

Carlson, Linda, Marty, Andrew and all the rest,
I really enjoyed the Utah CFP class today. Carlson, thanks for opening up your church so we could meet there.
Joe
Joe you are very welcome. It was good to meet you today.

GREAT CLASS and FIRST CLASS. Thanks to llwatson I now have my package ready for UTAH. She is a first class lady as well as her husband being a first class gentlemen. It was great to revisit and hit some reset buttons on the laws. THANK YOU.

(Edited: Not only to revisit the Texas Laws, but to learn the UTAH laws. That was the real reason, but my mind is not as sharp as it used to be, so I enjoyed the Texas just as much as I did UTAH.)
Again thanks Ms. Linda.

What is the advantage of getting a Utah license if you already have a TX CHL? I know there is reciprocity with a couple more states, but is there any other advantage.

The main one I can think of is overlap in case there is a delay in renewing your Texas CHL kind of like insurance I guess.

If you already have a Texas CHL:
1. If you travel, you pick up reciprocity with Washington, Ohio, and Minnesota.
2. The Utah CFP is good for 5 years from the issue date, not your birthday. So, you can have overlapping coverage in case you don't get your Texas CHL renewed on time.
If you don't have a Texas CHL, a Utah CFP still allows you to carry in Texas:
1. For a lower cost. New license is only $59 instead of $140. Renewal is $10, instead of $70.
2. Some people who are not eligible for a Texas CHL (for various reasons) can be eligible for a Utah CFP.
3. No range qualification required. Some people get really nervous about the shooting proficiency test. This is a way around that.
I won't say that I agree with everything about the Utah process, but then, I don't agree with everything about the Texas CHL either. It just gives people more options.

Thanks. I can see how it would be helpful for some although I don't travel to or through Minnesota, Ohio or Washington and just got my Texas CHL six months ago so I am not real concerned about overlap right now. Still helpful to understand the benefits.
