Went to Wal-Mart today and was kind of surprised to see the $19.97 100/box of WWB FMJ 9mm had gone up to $22 and something. I guess I should have expected it sooner or later. Remington 9mm Hollow Point 100/box was still $24.97.
This was Wally World in S. Arlington.

Since the ammo supply has finally caught up to demand, I'm surprised that they are raising their prices.
Our forum's "ammo on sale" thread had effectively becoming an "Ammo found!" thread, and I used to contribute.
But I stopped long ago, since every Wal-Mart I visit has plenty of all major calibers.
If you shoot some kind of niche round, things aren't so peachy.
But if you shoot .38 Special, even .380, 9MM, .40, or .45 - Wally's been able to sell you all you can afford for some time now.
Of course if its .380 it may not be the best brands, but they're better than harsh words. :-)

That's true.
I find that between Academy and Wally World I can find most of what I need at a decent price.

The price of Federal 510B .22 LR also jumped from $1.47/ box to $1.77 and now (this week) it's up to $1.97/box at a Wal-Mart near you. Federal 510B is pretty good ammo in most .22's, btw.

price of the 100 wwb .40 went up to 32.97 from 27.97 (or round about that).
its now more expensive to shoot 40 than 45 if you buy from walmart, as they didnt raise the price of the 100 count wwb .45 its 31.97

Yeah, I saw that last week. Probably should buy more monarch before it goes up in price.

GT Distributors also raised price on 9mm target loads. Both Speer Lawman and American Eagle are $11.97/50-round box now, up $1.00 per box
Seems the Federal Champion (maroon and black box) 9mm $10.97/50 is again the cheapest price at a retail brick-n-mortar store.

The 510 is the old Federal Lightning that came in the red box. It was, and is, excellent ammo.

At $20/brick it may still be the best and cheapest .22 LR out there? It's not better than when it was $15/brick but,...you know what I'm sayin'.
It's good for targets and plinkin' but I'd want a little more
'loudenboomer' for fighting the forces of evil and other scofflaws.

I saw the same in Houston earlier this week. It made my decision to purchase Federal 9mm that much easier. ($10.97/50)
No more Tula for me.

Last time I went to buy ammo Academy was out of WWB so I went with Monarch steel case for $9.49/50. It worked just fine for IDPA so I plan to stick with that.

I've been tempted to buy the Monarch steel cases because of the price I seem to remember awhile back
reading that it's not good to use the steel case a lot. Anyone know why....
?

The monarch ammo does not always make power factor for IDPA. If you plan to shoot a sanctioned match with monarch, make sure to chrono it first.

Many people believe steel case ammo is harder on the internal parts of the gun due to steel being harder than the softer brass. Additionally, there were reports of gumming of the chamber from lacquer or other coatings on the cases due to it melting in hot barrels and sticking to the chamber.
I personally have used steel case ammo and never seen an issue, but really haven't used a large amount of it over a long period of time to see any potential negative affects.
