Well, at least if she backs out it's no great loss

Good for her. I like it when a famous hottie can get past her self-adulation long enough to accept a date with a regular guy who is serving his country. It shows that she maybe has more going on that just good looks.
When my dad was a young 2nd Lt. in the Marine Corps waiting to ship out to the Pacific (and eventually, Iwo Jima), he was Jane Russell's date to a War Bonds function. But they weren't total strangers prior to that. His sister-in-law Meg was one of Jane's best friends, and remained so until Russell's death this past February. They were so close that Russell eventually moved to Santa Maria to be near my aunt Meg and uncle Tom, which is where she lived out the rest of her days, passing away on on February 28th. When I was in California last August at my uncle Tom's funeral services, I had an opportunity to visit with Jane Russell and chat with her a bit. It was apparently my dad who had introduced her to Bob Waterfield, her first husband, who was a UCLA All American and quarterback for the Cleveland Rams.
Funny the memories that this story brings back.....

Just did a Google search to refresh my memory on Jane Russell and found some gun-related pics (apparently she liked the single-action cowboy revolvers

, though she apparently didn't know much about Rule #3

) ... pretty lady, and apparently these first two pics (first two links below; above the two pics) were quite the scandal for her and movie producer Howard Hughes at the time (
mods: I've intentionally added only links to two of the photos below in hopes of avoiding any violation of various forum rules)

TAM: Six degrees of separation. Thanks for linking us all to Jane Russell.
Andy: And it's awfully casual gun handling...and the trigger is down on the second joint of her index finger. TAM needs to go back in time and apply his NRA instructor credentials to help her out...
I applaud Mila Kunis
big time for this. Way to go, kid!
What impresses me about Kunis is that her family legally emigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine when she was seven. The parents were professionals in Russia, but brought no money with them; they ended up working for a cab company and a pharmacy. And Mila knew not a single word of English when she hit these shores. No special speech therapists: she was tossed into public elementary school in Los Angeles.
Five years later, in 1995, at age 12, she had landed her first U.S. acting gig...in English, of course. In 1998 she became a series regular on
That ’70s Show.
Have you listened to her speak? Even on
That ’70s Show, when she was only 15, can you detect a Russian accent? I mean, that alone is a remarkable skill.
That she accepted Sergeant Scott Moore’s (currently serving in the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines in Afghanistan) YouTube invitation to the Marine Corps Ball...well, Kunis just went up several more notches in my opinion of her.
She is a naturalized U.S. citizen, and she just reinforced for us that she ain’t the typical Hollywood starlet.
Now if only she embraces 2A and owns firearms...

What? There was a gun in that picture? Where?...
Nope, I checked again, no gun!

As a certified dirty old man I always thought she was hot. Right now, I think she is even hotter for accepting the invite.
I too look forward to her following-through.

Ah it pains me to say this but some Kuddos are in order for Mr Timberlake as well I believe he is the one that brought the video to her attention.

That is exactly how I learned French. I got dumped into a French public school at age 7 or 8, and inside of a month I was chattering in French like a monkey. Kids' minds are sponges for languages at that age. "French as a second language" classes? Pfffffft! We ought to do the same for
our public schools at the grammar school level. You're not doing anyone any favors by insulating them from a requirement to learn our language in order to do well in school, and the
very best classroom for language learning for kids is the playground. If you leave them alone to figure it out, strangely enough, they
do; and all without any messianic intervention from well-intentioned but misguided teachers.
OK.... Rant Off.

sorry for the off-topic sideboard.

All his buddies are like: "You mean that actually WORKED!"
No doubt, now there will be a flood of vids from all the lads down range. If I was his buddy, I'd make a counter-offer vid:
"Mila. You DON'T want to go to the ball with this guy. TRUST me. I KNOW this dude. He CAN'T dance, he has HAIR in his ears, and he eats with his hands! You would have a MUCH better time going to the ball with ME!"
Props to Ms. Kunis regardless.

Wow...
Not only were you interred within the borders of Kalifornia, but you were also forced to learn French as a youth? You, sir, have lived a very traumatic life.
