(3)(A) If a sign is used as the method of posting, it shall contain language substantially similar to the following:
AS AUTHORIZED BY TCA ยง 39-17-1359, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON ON POSTED PROPERTY OR IN A POSTED BUILDING IS PROHIBITED AND IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE.
(B) As used in this section, "language substantially similar to" means the sign contains language plainly stating that:
(i) The property is posted under authority of Tennessee law;
(ii) Weapons or firearms are prohibited on the property, in the building, or on the portion of the property or building that is posted; and
(iii) Possessing a weapon in an area that has been posted is a criminal offense.
(C) A building, property or a portion of a building or property, shall be considered properly posted in accordance with this section if one (1) or both of the following is displayed in prominent locations, including all entrances primarily used by persons entering the property, building, or portion of the property or building where weapon possession is prohibited:
(i) The international circle and slash symbolizing the prohibition of the item within the circle; or
(ii) The posting sign described in this subdivision (3).
(C) A building, property or a portion of a building or property, shall be considered properly posted in accordance with this section if one (1) or both of the following is displayed in prominent locations, including all entrances primarily used by persons entering the property, building, or portion of the property or building where weapon possession is prohibited:
(i) The international circle and slash symbolizing the prohibition of the item within the circle; or
(ii) The posting sign described in this subdivision (3).

Yes and 2 of them I ate at had ARMED security in the parking lot to protect patrons from restaurant to their cars....Keith B wrote:You may see a lot of the restaurant signs like this. The legislation passed, but the governor vetoed that bill, and the legislature later overrode his veto. Then a short time later a judge threw out the law, saying it was constitutionally too vague. Last year they finally got a new version passed that was signed by the new Governor.
When the legislation was initially introduced, there was one restaurant owner in Memphis that started a major campaign to properly post restaurants. Apparently he was very successful with his 'blood in the streets' rhetoric and I understand signage like the one above is fairly commonplace.

As I've said about 1837 times, we CH licensees in Texas are fortunate to have our unique 30.06 sign.wgoforth wrote:Am in Tennessee currently for the week. I met an NRA sales booth person here at Gander Mountain who is also a CHL instructor. He said that TN recognizes ALL "no gun" signs since the law is so loose by saying "substantially." Had NOT realized that TN is open carry. He said that this was the tradeoff when they passed the restaurant carry bill last year. Even if you have a CHL in TN, you still have to have a background check to purchase a gun. They tried to get that changed but failed. Makes you appreciate TX all the more.
