So Wednesday I get a text message from my dad, Pawpaw.

Papaw: "Would you be willing to pay $152.38 for a Rock Island 1911?"
Me: "What the...Heck Yeah!" (NOTE: I've been shooting my dad's 1911s for a while now and have definitely been hooked. So an offer like this is gonna be impossible to turn up.)
Pawpaw: "Brand new, BTW."
Me: "New? Where the heck did you find that?"
Pawpaw: "Ok then, you own me $153.38. Ammo Depot."
Me: "Thanks! I'll pay you back ASAP."
Pawpaw: "I know. I'll drop it off tomorrow if you'll wait till I get off work Friday & we'll go shooting. Just the 2 of us."

So the next day (Thursday) he decides to torture and torment me all day long.

Pawpaw: "This thing has a pretty nice trigger!"
Me: "You're making me drool."
Pawpaw: "It's not as nice as my Rock, but still nice."
Me: "LOL"
Pawpaw: "Well, my Rock's trigger was worked over by a gunsmith."
Me: "Well that's true. I keep forgetting about that."

A little later....

Pawpaw: "What time is it?"
Me: "12:37"
Pawpaw: "Just checking. About 5 hours then?"
Me: "You are such a tease. ROFL."
Pawpaw: "Who. me???"
Me: "Yes, you!!!"
Pawpaw: "How so?"
Me: "You know I can hardly wait. You've infected me with the 1911 bug."
Pawpaw: "I never thought if a 1911 as a BUG. It's a primary!"
Me: "ROFL"

A little later....

Pawpaw: "What time is it now?"
Me: "1:39pm and I'm off work waiting. LOL"
Pawpaw: "I thought you worked till 5. Being off just makes it worse."

And yet later (4:51pm)....

Pawpaw: "Almost!"

About 30 minutes later Pawpaw shows up and hands me a Kimber gun case. I said something to the effect of "I thought you said it was a Rock Island." And he replied, "No. I only asked if you would buy a Rock Island for $153.38." So I opened the case and inside I found this:



So my first 1911 is a Kimber Stainless II. Friday afternoon Pop and I went to the range and I put 250 rounds through it. And he's right.... I does have a pretty nice trigger!

Awesome story. Wish my family would tease me like that. :)

Wonderful pistol. I know my father has surprised me over the years with different gifts. I dont care as much for the gifts as I do of the memories of him giving them to me to begin with. Enjoy.

Yep. You're right. You bought it Tuesday and dropped it off on Wednesday. I handled it and field stripped it multiple times on Thursday. And then we went shooting on Friday. Somehow or other I got things off by a day. Probably because I took Wednesday off.
