The site of the arrest was Canton, Texas.

The suspects were arraigned in Federal Court in Tyler, Texas (Smith County).

Why is there a federal court in a small city like Tyler? IIRC, some politician many years ago had the political
influence to get it sited there. I believe Sherman, Texas has one too, and that's a smallish city on the Red River/OK line.

Tyler is the headquarters of the U. S. District Court,Eastern District of Texas. Other places there are Federal Courts in the Eastern District are Beaumont, Lufkin, Marshall, Plano, Sherman, and Texarkana. Tyler is centrally located in this district so I would guess that's the reason it is the headquarters. None of the cities that have federal courts in the Eastern District are huge megaplexes like Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Austin smaller areas are entitled to have access to a Federal judiciary without having to travel hundreds of miles.

Are you saying the buyer told the seller "I am a convicted felon" and the seller still did the deal?
