Two weeks ago I didn't even know this gun existed.

I Bought a Sig Sauer 1911 / 22




I took it to the range yesterday and put 100 rounds through it.

Not one problem.

It's sights were way off for me.

But Sig included everything I needed to change the front sight.

It's a really fun gun to shoot.

It s very accurate now.

Looks nice except for the billboard of writing all over it!
What are those two round things on either side of the slide stop nub?

Looks like a good price for a Sig, however I find GA to be overpriced in a lot of the ads there:

We've had one for a few months now. Basically, it is a rebadged GSG 1911-22 with SIG-specific grips. If you are wanting extra magazines, you can find the GSG mags online and they work as well as the SIG mags. We really enjoy ours and have had no issues whatsoever with it over a couple hundred rounds.

The two things on either side of the takedown pin nub are a pin and screw, which must be removed to take it down. This pistol is a simple blowback with a fixed barrel. The barrel assembly is secured to the grip frame with these additional items.

So, basically it just looks like a 1911 and does not operate like one.

All the controls are like the 1911, and it is a ball to shoot. My youngest daughter and I had to get used to the grip safety, once we got that this thing runs like a dream! Really enjoy this gun - youngest uses it at defensive pistol classes as it is easier for her to shoot more than 100 rounds through it, and it runs like a "big gun".

What kind of ammo were you shooting through it? Nice to know it feeds reliably...I've always wanted to pick up a Mosquito but have been continually turned off by the issues people have had with it.

Have fed it Winchester and Federal bulk pack. It ate them just fine.

We have played with a mosquito, and like this one MUCH better. JMPHO.

Have had Mosquito 3 years... Two thngs make the difference in the reliability with it (1) It comes with two recoil springs.... experiment to see which works best for it. (2) Ammo. Cheaper .22 ammo will do ok, but typically have a FTF/double feeds once or twice a mag (only requires re-racking).... but hey, this is for plinking, not self defense, right? If you use the ammo they reccomend, the the CCI Mini, no problems. Since it handles/feels and is laid out like a typical 9mm, I use this to teach both adults who are new to guns, my children, and me for fun with it. For under $300, it is fun, inexpensive plinking pleasure.

I have had a Mosquito for a few years now...it is the most unreliable gun I have in my collection. I have tried different ammo including the CCI recommendations, different springs, different mags...I'm out of options to make this thing work as advertised. Mine has multiple FTfire and FTfeed problems. I'm glad its double action b/c I need a second strike quite often. I would only buy a used mosquito that was proven reliable prior to purchase. I have contacted SIG and they are not willing to do much about my reliability issue.

From what I hear the grip safety is pretty stout on the GSG 1911's. Thefirearmblog.com just wrote a good little review about it if you want to read it.

Hubby never had a problem with FTFFTE with the grip safety on the 1911-22, but it is "smooth" and he has meatier hands that daughter and I, so keeping it fully depressed was easy. Once we realized how we needed to grip a little firmer and as high as possible it ran fabulous! I think if it had a bit of a "bump" on the bottom of the grip safety it would be easier. That being said, we did get some misfire drill in at first. Not always a bad thing.

How much is one of those? They look like a blast and I am looking for a good reliable 22 for my kids to shoot.

Makes one wonder what could be the difference? I do know if mine gets a little dirty it has issues. Hard to imagine Sig not standing behind their work, their customer service is usually primo.
