LARGE Signage?

Howdy Folks,

We all deal with signs on a day to day basis when we're carrying - have you seen any extraordinarily large ones? During a trip to my local (El Paso) Costco the other day I snapped a picture of this TABC "Blue" sign.

Image

It is - by far - the largest sign of it's type I've ever seen posted at a location. It's mounted on one of the large Pillars in front of the Entrance to store. I didn't take a measuring tape to verify, but the thing has to be a good 2' wide by 3' tall (at the least). It takes up a good portion of the pillar which isn't exactly small.

Also of interest was the fact that there was only an english version of the sign posted, it's Spanish counterpart seems to have been neglected. Oddly enough though, if you look closely the fine print at the bottom of the sign is All in spanish as opposed to the english I've seen on other English signs of it's type. Bwah? At any rate, I crusised right on by it even though it did give the impression of a towering gargoyle gaurding over the entrance. You'd have to be blind to miss this thing! Tangentially, I've often wondered why they felt the need to post such a massive sign and have to wonder if it has anything to do with the Erik Scott incident up in NV. This is Texas afterall and we do love our CHL's.

So have you seen any other massive signs in your travels around the state? Do share if you have! :txflag:

I Hear you on the legal requirement for the sign. It's just sort of odd for our area - pretty much every storefront that sells for offsite consumption has both english/spanish signs posted. I'm more curious why costco decided on one giant sign, hehe. Also just yesterday at Wally World I actually noticed that there was only a Spanish sign at one entrance instead of an english or both - Guess it grew legs and walked away! :smilelol5:

Size does matter. Well, maybe not this time.

I love those signs! Since I can legally carry my concealed weapon, that doesn't apply to me. But a criminal would think twice about entering that store with an illegal handgun.

That's large.
Can they read it in Juarez?

Personally, I appreciate businesses posting signs with large print, especially as I get older.

This was taken with a cell phone, so quality isn't great, but this site seems serious about their 30.06 notice.

Unless that is an awfully short fence, those letters are definitely more than 1" tall.

Really? I thought ignoring signs and laws, etc. is what makes criminals er, uh...criminals.

Holy Cow! That makes the costco sign look like a index card! That's pretty crazy - I guess some places are so concerned about it they go above and beyond the legal requirements. Out of curiosity was it some kind of factory or industrial site?

Thanks for posting that picture, it made my day. :tiphat:

The signs at my work are this size and yet a co-worker mentioned the other day how we aren't posted. A few of us suggested he see an eye Dr.

costco probably posts that sign thinking they are keeping someone out with it.

Costco sells beer and wine. (Well. at least the ones in Houston do.)

But they don't derive more than 51% of their income from it, so it is pretty moot...or "mute" as they say around here.
