Sorry, it's a huge debate between my friend and I over this. My interpretation of Arizona law is that with my Texas CHL I can carry concealed OR open whichever I pick. My friend says that I can only open carry and that conealed carry is illegal regardless of said CHL. Please clear this up for me.

According to Arizona State Legislature:
http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp ... ocType=ARS
U. This state and any political subdivision of this state shall recognize a concealed weapon, firearm or handgun permit or license that is issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state if both:
1. The permit or license is recognized as valid in the issuing state.
2. The permit or license holder is all of the following:
(a) Not a resident of this state.
(b) Legally present in this state.
(c) Not legally prohibited from possessing a firearm in this state.
V. For the purpose of establishing mutual permit or license recognition with other states, the department of public safety shall enter into a written agreement if another state requires a written agreement.
W. Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, a person with a concealed weapons permit from another state may not carry a concealed weapon in this state if the person is under twenty-one years of age or is under indictment for, or has been convicted of, a felony offense in any jurisdiction, even if the person's rights have been restored and the conviction is expunged, set aside or vacated.

cobranx: As long as you meet the requirements under Arizona law, you may carry concealed.
biggest gotcha for AZ concealed carry is you cannot carry in any place where alcohol is served, PERIOD.

I thought Open Carry was legal where alcohol was served in AZ, while Concealed Carry was not. Or am I thinking of some other state?
edited to add: I just looked up Arizona on Handgunlaw.us, and Nitrogen is correct: both open and concealed carry is prohibited at any location that serves alcohol. I don't know what state I was thinking of, now.

Thanks, I thought I had read it right. I am aware of no carrying in places such as gas stations and convenience marts due to the alcohol it carries. Thanks for the info, it's appreciated.

Actually I believe it only applies to places licensed to serve alcohol on premises, like restaurants.

Except NM has one important distinction: you can't carry (open or concealed) anywhere alcohol is
sold in NM. That includes convenience stores and Wal Mart.

Upon review I find you to be correct. I guess I was grouping Arizona and New Mexico together. Thanks for pointing that out.
