MSM Silence is deafening.

Newly released data for Chicago shows that, as in Washington, murder and gun crime rates didn't rise after the bans were eliminated -- they plummeted. They have fallen much more than the national crime rate.

Not surprisingly, the national media have been completely silent about this news.

One can only imagine the coverage if crime rates had risen. In the first six months of this year, there were 14% fewer murders in Chicago compared to the first six months of last year – back when owning handguns was illegal. It was the largest drop in Chicago’s murder rate since the handgun ban went into effect in 1982.

Meanwhile, the other four most populous cities saw a total drop at the same time of only 6 percent.

Similarly, in the year after the 2008 "Heller" decision, the murder rate fell two-and-a-half times faster in Washington than in the rest of the country.

It also fell more than three [times] as fast as in other cities that are close to Washington's size. And murders in Washington have continued to fall.

If you compare the first six months of this year to the first six months of 2008, the same time immediately preceding the Supreme Court's late June "Heller" decision, murders have now fallen by thirty-four percent.

Gun crimes also fell more than non-gun crimes.

At first I was skeptical, thinking to myself that sure the SCOTUS ruled, but people still can't legally possess guns in Chicago. Then I saw this graphic in the linked blog:

Glad to see I was wrong and people are starting to get legal guns.

I have friends who live and work in IL and feel sorry for them. But I go through the state at least once a year as long as it is not Chicago. I have not been in the city since 1970 and can think of no situation that would require me to break this.

I have a neighbor who was raised in inner Chicago, but who has lived in Texas for 40+ years--she insists that if her Chi-town relatives and friends want to see her, they can visit Texas. She feels relative safe in rural Texas, but is happy to keep a Rem 870 behind the front door and moves it to her bedside at night. This is a 74 year old widow.

Excellent :clapping: it just goes to show that time and time again allowing good people to have the power to determine their own destiny and fend for and protect themselves wins every time over centralized planning and control. It's now not just a trend it's a fact! :thumbs2:

Story leaves out a lot of details. But net result, four men (not boys) came in armed and tried to rob a pizza place. All four left in an ambulance. Good guy's 4 robber's 0

Tried to rob a place and were stopped by an off-duty Deputy who is an Iraq vet.
One BG dead, 3 others in hospital with "life threatening injuries".
BG's were shot with "an employees handgun" after a struggle.

Maybe a separate thread, but, IMO, one of the good things that will come out of our 10 years of war in the ME is a new generation of American men and women that understand the cost of Freedom.

...never thought about it that way, but it's as true as sunrise...my two boys came home from Iraq and armed up with ARs and .45s, one an 8-shot pump 12...and they mean business...once you've put your butt on the line for this country, you don't push very much...as it should be...thanks for reminding us!!! :patriot:
