Oh sorry, your at their mercy as guns are illegal in New York City. So give them everything they want and hope they don't hurt you.

Better Idea--Avoid NY all together. If you MUST go, carry a muggers wallet with a $20 in it and keep yours' hidden on an interior layer. Additionally if you MUST go--obviously tools are permitted a small screwdriver makes a great weapon too or a sharp pair of scissors. Be armed in some manner.
