Having dinner with Mike Conaway tomorrow, he is visiting Afghanistan and I was invited to a 2 hour dinner, .. 12 constituents and him.
I plan to ask his position on Holder / Fast Furious.
And ask him to request an AG position memo on parking lot carry, reference a multi tenet building owner putting up 30.06 signs effecting employees of all tenants.
Anything else that is in a representatives lane / purview come to mind?

Do you want him to ask AG Holder or AG Abbott? Federal legislators are not on the list of people who can request a Texas AG official opinion.

No sir, that is not what I said or intended. I would not profess to tell Mr Conaway how to do his job..
True, he cannot directly task the TX AG, that was not what I meant..But as my Rep, he can facilitate a request to the TX AG.

I intend to ask Mr Conaway to request an AG position memo, how he goes about that action is best left to him.. It may be a personal phone call to the TX AG (unofficial) it may be though some official request procedure, he may put an ad in the local paper

I honestly do not know the specifics of how Mr Conaway would / will act upon my request, if he does at all. Im sure there are several options, what works best is really best left in his lane I think.

Not sure what results were tangible; But it was a pleasant dinner, and interesting conversation. I did not feel as if i was being played or pandered to. On some topics he discussed, there was a slight undertone of we have been trying and sales pitch SS, Medicare... Aout of the 12 there, I was the only one from his district, the oldest and most senior ranking, and seated face to face with him.. So it appeared I had the a majority of the direct conversations with him... Or he is just that good, and everyone felt that way...

Talked a bit about budget, what is being done, has to be done, or will be done.
Holder was met with some deflection, and the requested to make a request for an AG opinion, set aside for a email conversation. Wanted more facts and had to have staff do some research before commitment. Which, is a better response then i thought i might get, or a no sense answer just to put me off.
