Free Parking *kind of* at Fort Worth Gun Show

Went to the Fort Worth Gun Show at the City Owned Will Rogers Center this weekend. As always $5 to park, but then you received $5 off admission with your parking stub. This would have really been a home run in my mind, if they had not have raised the admission fee to $10.

I spent Zero dollars at the show (as is the case most every time), as I was on the hunt for a Kel Tec Sub 2000 .40; which at this point seems to be a mythical gun that exist only on pages of the internet.

This topic has been covered, I just thought the "$5 off admission" twist was a new one. Its not the money, its the principal.

If you're on their mailing list, you usually get a "code word" for an additional dollar or two off the price of admission, in addition to the parking refund.

Seems like I've seen those in .40 pop up on TGT pretty often.
When I was looking for a 9mm Sub2K, all I saw were .40 S&Ws

The kel tec sub 2k in 40 is all I can find, I want the 9mm version and have had no luck for the last couple years. Sure I could order one but that's not the point.

Texas Gun Trader. http://texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=5&b=422" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is a good Texas classified site--I have bought, sold, found guns, parts, reloading stiff and ammo. They are testing a new format and it is fairly user friendly.

LOL reminds me of a car dealer I spent about 5 minutes with one time. Told me the car really was $1500 off just like the ad said but they had to take $1500 off my trade. :mad5

There were, at the August show, a lot of motorcycles parked near the entrance door in the area behind the gate.

I'm still new to the gun scene. I did spend about 8 or 9 months researching various guns, CHL, carry options, ammo, etc before I finally bought something. I went to a gun show in Houston, two at Dallas Market Hall and two at the Irving Convention Center (the last visit there is when I finally made my first purchase). I thought about going to the Ft. Worth show just to look around. I chose not to because A.) I didn't really have the money to buy anything I'd like to have and B.) I just finished with two weeks of a brutal work load and I was just plain tired.

My question is: Having heard that the Ft. Worth show is HUGE (bigger than the one at Dallas Market Hall even), did I really miss anything by not being there? I mean, the money spent to be there in my opinion, is negligible. $10? I spend that going to the movies. I would spend $10 bucks to see and feel and stroke some of the weapons I'd really like to own one day. A gun show is the place to really do that. Of course, since Iive north of Dallas, then there is also the added cost of mileage and gas.

Sighhh, I should have just gone. :-(

Oh well, maybe next time eh!!

I hope I did the 'quote-thingy' correct. :headscratch Didn't see the need to quote the entire preamble, but I feel your pain. Speaking from a similar situation and working night shift, I've been to most of the shows from Frisco, to Mesquite, to Ft Worth this year. Living in NW Ft Worth, of course Will Rogers is most convenient, and attending is usually just for 'entertainment' purposes, but they're more fun than a 'chick flick'. I haven't seen much real difference from one to other, except one of the Market Hall shows was 'sponsored' by the NRA and I got a renewal/admission deal. I highly recommend that one and the NRA in general!! :clapping: Being a 'transplant' to the DFW area, I've learned about the area resources and about other brands by 'networking' at the shows. IMHO, the hardware prices are generally reasonable and some even comparable to online (factor the taxes vs shipping and FFL xfer fee), but ammo/accessories don't seem to be much of a 'deal'. Personally so far, I've bought 3 locally at the shows, and only 1 online. When they're competitive, I like to support the local economy. :txflag: I like the challenge of 'hunting' for a deal, and finding something I didn't know I 'needed'. "rlol" For example, I just got a RRA 2 stage trigger for the AR for $95 vs $120+ every where else. :anamatedbanana

To Steve, the OP, :tiphat: I'm a big fan of 'principals' also, but I'd rather get some info and entertainment at the shows for a generally reasonable price, instead of most anything else (movies, tv, etc.). Costs and prices are going up on everything, but its like reading a review in a magazine, AND you can see and feel for yourself. I think that has a value worth the admission price.

IMHO, there is nothing wrong with just shopping but not shopping-shopping, and don't feel that you have to cave to peer pressure and buy. :smilelol5:

IMHO, depends what you're 'shopping' for, but you shouldn't be disappointed. Personally, I'm not in the market for used, so all the usual vendors seem to be at most all the shows, but I guess it varies by who the sponsor is. I really haven't seen a lot of difference, from one to the next. The Market Hall show seems bigger, and seems to have more of the smaller, private, used sellers, as well as 'wife bait' like some arts n craft stuff. I'd rank the Ft Worth show next, if you can live with the 'parking issue'. :deadhorse: :smilelol5:
I may go to the Lewisville show this weekend just because I can. "rlol"
