“I honestly believe I would not be here today if I didn’t have a gun,” Bennett said Friday. “I’m just glad I’m here today and not in the obituaries tomorrow.”
Ohio recently set another record with the number of conceal carry permit holders. According to figures released this month by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, more than 253,000 people are licensed to carry a gun, more than double the number licensed in 2007.

Irvine said the state’s CCW laws, first enacted in 2004, continue to protect ordinary citizens like Bennett.

“We’ve seen enough abductions to know they’re not going to be taken some place for a manicure,” he said. “It’s not going to have a happy ending. And frankly, I’d rather read about someone defending their life than someone being killed by an attacker.”

Crime is getting to be pretty risky business in Ohio.
How does their CHL per capita compare to Texas?

She is quoted as saying "I have a gun, dont make me use it" and then fired a warning shot out the open passenger door. I dont understand verbal commands much less warning shots. :totap:

There is a time for talking and a time for doing, not time for both.

Glad she is ok.

Looks like they have more CHL per capita than Texas.

Ohio CHL's = 253,000 (source: original post)

Ohio population = 11,536,504 (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U. ... population" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Texas CHL's = 461,724 ( source: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... tr2010.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Texas Population = 25,145,561

Ohio CHL's per capita = 253,000/11,536,504 = 0.0219

Texas CHL's per capita = 461,724/25,145,561 = 0.0184

Ratio OH/TX = 0.0219/0.0184 = 1.19

Good Stuff. Thanks for doing the math there. Looks like it is indeed slightly more dangerous for criminals in Ohio.

...Exactly!!! she should trade her gun in on a trunk monkey...if there were ever a time to press firmly and squeeze till empty, that was it...assuming she had a revolver, that is...it reads like she may have not made her mind up to take a life beforehand...or maybe she just didn't want the dirtbag bleeding in her car...

Her gun was a .38 revolver. She didn't have it onbody, though.

While the bad guy had her pinned down backwards on her front seat, she had to arch her back
in order to retrieve it from the console.

It's great that she had her gun within reach, but onbody is the best way to go, IMHO.
