I filled out the application online for the CHL, got fingerprinted and will take the CHL class next week. About 40 years ago, during my wilder, younger years, I got picked up a couple of times for public intoxication. It wasn't a big deal; I was just walking home instead of driving, and a passing LEO decided to pick me up. I spent the night in jail, pleaded nolo contendere the next morning, and was released. I reported these on my application. I didn't even remember the exact dates, after 40 years. I mentioned that, too. Will they still want the "court certification" documents etc.? I called the CHL office and the guy on the phone said they probably wouldn't mess with it, since this wouldn't disqualify me from a CHL with or without papers anyway. I'm not sure if such documents will even exist after this long. Anybody have any specific knowledge or experience to share? Thanks.

It wont affect your approval. Since you put it down it might only delay your approval a couple weeks. I was delayed for a background review and I still got mine in under 60 days. Don't sweat it.

don't sweat it, shouldn't be a problem. i had a class B misdemeanor (juvenile, arrested with MJ), and i wasn't even required to get any court documentation after submitting my CHL application. the charges had been expunged from my record, and since it was a juvenile case those files SHOULD be sealed, at least from what i was told. it took me a bit longer than other people who applied around the same time i did last year, but i received my plastic within 60 days. just the year before, my brother-in-law (with no criminal record at all) took over 6 months to receive his. those handling times have dropped dramatically.
