Anyone here ever go through the trouble of getting any non resident permits for the various states that offer them?

They range from relatively expensive (Florida $117, to almost nothing (New Hampshire)

The benefit is that some states do not yet honor a Texas CHL while other states may other other states.

It is only $59. They renew every 5 years for $10. That is cheaper than Texas. So, the Utah permit gives the same thing to you as Texas for about a third of the cost. It appears that Utah offers the best non-Texas coverage.

There are a few states that will not recognize the Utah permit and you living in Texas, but I have already forgot those. llwatson can answer this one or maybe someone else.

Have to go do some homework, but yes there are some states that do not recognize non-resident permits, no matter what...

Those are, as I recall, states that don't recognize a lot of things anyway...And probably don't have CCW permits as well...

I'm a Texas/Utah combo dude now...And I am pretty happy with the number of states I can travel in and visit that recognize my lawful purposes and intentions...

The states you gain with a Utah permit are: Minnesota, Ohio, and Washington.

The states that have reciprocity with Utah, but DO NOT recognize a non-resident permit are: Florida, Michigan, and New Hampshire

I hardly travel out of Tejas anymore but I do have a Fl permit as a back up to my Tx license, i.e., should I lose my Tx or have problems with renewal I am still good to go on my Fl permit.
