what is the definition of a handgun???

I can't remember from our class and when I do searches the query is just to general. If I am carrying a pistol unloaded without a clip and without any ammunition available can I carry in some of the areas restricted? I don't mind leaving a clip in the car but I hate leaving the gun in the car while I run into a restricted area with the possibility it might fall into a criminals hands.

Texas makes no distinction between loaded and unloaded. The answer to your question is, No.
A handgun is a gun designed to be fired using just one hand. Sure, I can fire my Henry with one hand, but that's not how it was designed. And most of us use two hands when shooting our handguns, but it is designed to be able to use just one.

You better hope your handgun is a handgun. Otherwise it's likely a SBR.

Thanks for confirming what I had suspected. Guess I will check into a secure way to lock up my gun without being obvious in the parking garage.
