...wouldn't be surprised if the laws against are written to exclude LEOs or Emergency vehicle personnel...otherwise, my Mama's favorite expression kicks in "Do as I say, not as I do..."

There, fixed it for ya.

I've had a belly full of good for the goose, not good for the gander rules, regulations, and legislation. Of course if its just a matter of enforcement....well... :banghead:

So...on further research, apparently Houston has no law against texting and driving, which suits me fine. I still stand by my original comments.

...I respect anyone's opinion here, but I don't like someone "fixing" my posts...I know what I mean to say, I choose my words carefully, and it'd be a lot better if others would simply post their own opinions rather than "helping" me restate mine...it's done frequently here...and not appreciated by this old man at all!!! :grumble :grumble :grumble

The worst part of the report, to me, was the notice that they had "shocking" coverage. Come on, really, someone, even a LEO twd is shocking.

...on a slow day...some of the weather reports on Dallas TV are announced with breathless teaser ads about scary calamities...ANYTHING to keep you watching their channel...some of us old guys remember when news reporting was considered a profession...now, not so much...

Is like the antis who imposed 46.035 on CHL but not off duty cops.

...I beg to differ with you on that one...at what time and in what place would you like to see an unarmed police officer, given the oath he's taken to put his life on the line to enforce the law??? "Off duty" is just a misapplied phrase, a cop's NEVER off duty...though he may be out of uniform and/or away from his assigned job...
...haven gotten THAT off my chest...let me also say that any citizen in a licensing state who's been issued a license by the state should be able to carry his weapon anywhere, just like the officers do...we're either fit to carry wisely or we're not...

I think they should follow the same rules as me. I'm never off duty protecting myself and my loved ones.

To get back to the OP question, everyone is subject to the law in a state that respects human rights. In a police state some animals are more equal than others. Like in Animal Farm.

...I don't know of any state that restricts where sworn police officers can carry...except perhaps Federal restrictions...it would be a huge insult...may you never experience a "police state"...

Fair enough, speedsix. I truly didn't mean to offend, I was just making a flippant remark. Unfortunately, the distance of the web makes it more difficult to properly express the tounge-in-cheek nature of my remark. My apologies. :tiphat:
