The application is mailed to an office in Austin. I lived and worked in Austin. The residences, employers, and a little 40-year-old misdemeanor were all in Austin. Will that help it get approved faster?

I sent out my documents last Monday, got a delivery confirmation in the same week (on a Thurs) and nothing was updated on the website until yesterday (roughly a week and a half from the sent out date. Regular logic does not apply to this process, not sure if they're overworked or if it really takes a week to receive everything. I've read in a few threads that even after the status is updated to "MAILED" you can still receive a week after (shipping inside the TX, from ATX/HOU should NEVER take more than a day or two) . In my buddy's case his status wasn't even updated online but had received his plastic in the mail (this was when there was a hold up a few years ago, when the process took a full 3+ months instead of the 1month+ now).

About the only thing you are guaranteed is that eventually you'll get it (if you meet all the req's, of course).

I sent mine in on 10/14 and it showed up green as in process around 10/30 and I got it in the mail on 12/6. I'm not sure exactly when it switched to 'mailed' - but I'm guessing it spent 2 days in transit to my mailbox.

I had a couple blemishes from about 20 years ago and military experience (including a top secret clearance I had while in the Navy) and the entire process took around 6 weeks which was about what I was expecting.
