30.06 sign properly posted

Evening, all.
It's been a while since I've been here, but I thought I'd just drop in to see what condition my condition was in. With that being said, a few months ago, I was at Mrs. W560's workplace (a building owned by the district), and found on a bulliten board, this sign:
proper wording, contrasting, and in both English and Spanish.
So, I took out my trusty Dollar coin (which is 1.004 inches, more or less), and did this:
It's clearly over an inch in height. So, anyone who has never seen a 30.06 sign, here's a great example.

What is the "district"? Is it a government entity?

Jasonw560 ,,, glad to see you ... been missing your posts :)

good question puma guy
It may be "properly posted" and a "valid sign meeting the requirements" yet unenforceable ...?
Multi-utility district
utility district
water district
etc govt entities or subdivisions of the State shouldn't have signs posted
Hospital District ??
School District office building which is *not* a "school"...????? .... thought provoking, I'd have to look it up/research... I had not thought of it, I took a sister in law to one
(School District offices building separate from any campus)....and I stayed in the car, just because ...but I'd think it rare that they'd have one, and if they had one but it wasn't a "school" but instead a "governmental office building" .......... would need to re-read if they are off limits or not if they are not *schools* ... I mean if a *school district building* not on a "campus," is or is not in the definition of places prohibited ...
I need to re-read that
Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED.
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/d ... /PE.46.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution;
Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.
(2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event;
One of those posted in a govt entity breakroom/conspicuous place for employees as Employee policy ... hmmmm

Yep, those letters are clearly under 1 inch in height. Thing is, I don't know if it would be worth the risk, if the area is closely policed. Jeez... get arrested, frisked, handcuffed, taken downtown, spend 1-3 days in jail waiting to appear before a judge. Maybe even be on the local news "...was arrested this afternoon after attempting to enter the school district offices with a loaded handgun..." Whether I'm right or not, that's not something I'm interested in enduring. Some of these places, it might be better to just avoid the whole thing and leave the piece in the glove compartment.

Is that bulletin board out where anyone can see it? It is obvious that it is not on an entrance door, but if it is in an employee break room or somewhere where not everyone has access it may not be valid at all.
Oh, and if it is even with the slightly less than one inch letters I wouldn't push it.

It would be even better to leave period. Spend your money in places where there's no question about being legal to carry. Places that don't post big ugly signs. You get to carry. The ugly sign businesses have their wishes respected. Some other company gets your business and makes some profit. All three are happy.

Oh, and if it is even with the slightly less than one inch letters I wouldn't push it.
The intent is clearly there. This place does not want to do business with CH licensees.

Yes, but would I even see this? That is the question.

If you didn't see it, it wasn't there or if you didn't hear it, it wasn't said. Kinda' like "concealed is concealed", you reckon?

I know that's how you roll OG, but what I'm wondering is if the bulletin board is out in the open where anyone that enters that building could see it or if it is someplace like an employee break room where only employees or the guest of an employee would have the opportunity to see it. Some stores or businesses have bulletin boards at or near entrances.

I'm a roller alright; a senior, married, law-abiding, common sense conservative, B.S.C.E. degreed roller with questioning religious views.
Now that we've got that out of the way, why search for a sign? It's either in plain view where
YOU can see it or it's not. If it's in the employee break room or toilet, or CEO's office, etc., it doesn't apply to you
or me. Ergo, I'm gonna' find something else to worry about. For instance: I wish it had been warm enough to go shoot my newest CZ 452 FS comfortably today.
It seems only yesterday that we were complaining about the unbearable heat and tomorrow is Christmas already. Where does the time go?

I'm with you there. If I don't see it as I'm entering or near the entrance I don't continue to look. That's why I was wondering about this one.

Sorry...."District" is School district.
It's on a hallway bulletin board by the restrooms in the back of the building. Haven't checked the front of the building, but I would think they had one there, knowing how freaky some education types can be. if you walk down the hall, it kinda hits you in the face.
And no, I haven't done this in texas3006.com yet. Maybe tomorrow.

You would think that a school district might be smart enough to read and understand the law.
