I have recently run into a group, Texans for Concealed Carry, who claim to be business members of the TSRA... Several of their "board members" are on another forum I am on... and they may be legit, but they have said enough things to make me uneasy...as well as other forum members. Anyone familiar with this group?

Statement made by their head: "We need members and support here: We are the new lobby organization for TXCHL. Donations are GREATLY appreciated and HIGHLY needed."

It's not a forum, it's a "you pay to join our organization" type of thing. Thus my wondering how legit they are.

Nope! Not even a shirt!
They seem to stand for: Open carry; constitutional carry; college carry; no finger printing.
Some comments their board member made makes me wonder how legit they are. (1) Claimed you don't have to be finger printed to be a security guard, so why should we? (he was unaware that ARMED security guards must be) (2) Claimed the background check for CHL is the SAME background check to purchase a firearm.

...I didn't find a charge for joining...but I did find asking too much personal information...if you're wanting to start a sub-chapter or on their "giving" page...they don't need to know phone numbers, physical address, and where we work...I'm passin'...

See my edit, this caused me concern of hoe legit they may be: "We need members and support here: We are the new lobby organization for TXCHL. Donations are GREATLY appreciated and HIGHLY needed."
Claiming they are the new gun lobby for CHL?? Donations?

I don't see any references to Open/Constitutional carry on thier web site--am I missing something (just did a quick perusal, not an in-depth search). Are their members perhaps activists for other issues outside the organization?
It looks like they're primarily a campus-carry advocacy organization. I also wonder if they're tied in as a PAC organization. If so, that would explain why they ask for so much information--political actcion organazations have to document significant info on donations received.
As for security gaurds, things may have changed, it was a lot of years ago, but I had to be fingerprinted for a non-commissioned security card as well...but that's just a pointless aside...
At any rate, I'm curious. I like to know who's out there stumping for what...

Those issues are from their discussion on Facebook. Their board members (young looking fellows) are really pushing it and wonder how legit it is. Something about their comments and arguing on Facebook just doesn't feel right...

My take on it too, SpeedSix. It's a background check--hard to imagine they've dropped the fingerprinting requirement. Heck, I had to be fingerprinted when I went to work for a bank, and when I had "on-the-ramp" access at the airports (Pre TSA days) too...there's so many copies of my prints in the various systems it's absurd.
