I am a 68-year-old Newbie. I grew up shooting .22 rifles and shotguns but not handguns. After two bad experiences with BGs this past year, I decided not to be a victim in the future.

11/10/2011 - Purchased Springfield Armory XD Sub-Compact 9mm
11/12/2011 - Shooting lessons with a Professional Instructor
12/09/2011 - Completed 28 days of daily target practice
12/10/2011 - CHL Class (247 on Shooting & 100 on Written)
12/12/2011 - CHL On-line Application Completed
12/14/2011 - L1 Fingerprinting Completed
12/14/2011 - CHL Application Mailed Registered Mail
12/15/2011 - Application Received by DPS Austin, TX

In January, I plan to take Defensive Shooting and Awareness Classes. In the meantime, I am patiently sitting by the mailbox everyday, while getting an education by reading posts on texaschlforum.
