Dont let it get to you, I have seen peoples status never change from documents received, and then boom, they get their license in the mail, and all before the website was updated.
Unless you have been arrested before, where it would cause more checking, I wouldn't worry about it, just give it a week and you will have your license (or at least a positive web update)

Arrests - just a couple of PI arrests back during my wilder years, 40 years ago (jeez, am I that old??). In fact, I talked to them on the phone about it after I mailed my application, and he said don't worry about it, that I really didn't even have to include them in the application. He said they would have found them anyway and it wouldn't affect my eligibility.

That would be nice, to get the CHL in the mail all of a sudden! Having worked in a state office cubicle for several decades, I can say with virtual certainty that the person who updates the web site is NOT involved in checking and approving applications. This person has a huge stack of approved applications - or several screenfuls of unread emails about approved applications - and goes through them and updates the web site when he's not working on something else, or on break, or taking a sick/vacation day, etc. Very likely it's a near-minimum-wage employee, an "administrative assistant" who does this when he/she is not on phone duty or working the front desk. Higher-paid state officials who do more "serious" work don't typically have the task of fiddling with web sites in their job descriptions.

Further... even then, the "web site updaters" don't directly edit sites on the web servers. They use something like Front Page or Dreamweaver, or maybe even direct email, and send an update REQUEST downstairs to a department with a name like "Information Services," an they are the ones who actually have access to the actual files on the server. Letting a minimum wage envelope-stuffer access public web sites is a BIG security no-no in any state agency.

So it's probably this sort of thing that accounts for people getting their CHLs in the mail while the web site still shows "under review" or whatever.

Hmmm.. it's 12:15. I think I'll walk out to the mailbox.... :thumbs2:

Argghhhh, no luck.... :banghead:

No worries, if something comes up, they'll definitely notify you of it. Seeing as how that tech or person you spoke to explained everything you should be getting your plastic relatively soon. Good luck with the process and it'll be here before you know it!

Yeah, Ruark my background has been under review since 12/13/2011. Not even a traffic ticket. Now here is the kicker, my son and I took the class on the same day, got all the material together and I mailed them both on Dec. 7,2011. On Dec. 13, 2011 my info showed up on DPS web site and waiting for background check, my son's stuff didn't show up until Dec 30, 2011 waiting for background check, on the same day the 30th his background cleared. Tuesday Jan 3, 2012 his showed mailed. I've checked mine at 5:00 p.m. today and mine is still showing background under review. I fell your pain brother!, makes you wonder what they really do. P.S. I emailed them today and here is there blow-off responce they sent me!

Banjo: yeah, that's a "form email" they send to everybody. I got the exact same one, word for word. Ugh.

Hang in there guys. I found mine took longer because of the infamous "prior arrest that took place a long time ago" issue. Once they see that your application gets pulled from the stream line process and they send a letter to the aressting county requesting the file. Your application will sit in a pile until they get the file from the arresting county so the can be sure you check out. In this case with the arrest 40 years ago there might not be anything there for them to send. I have heard that in these cases you may need to help the process out by getting a letter from the aressting county saying the file no longer exists and send that to DPS.

Good luck.

I'm in the same boat. My record is clean. My employer does an annual deep dive into my background moreso than dps do to the nature of the business. So I know there's nothing there. I've lived at the same address and worked for the same company for over 10 yrs. It seems dps doesn't have structure to completion schedules.

Y'all need to remember that DPS sends your info to the FBI for them to check too. It isn't always DPS' fault.

Yeah, remember also that they have a BUNCH of these things to do. Thousands of them. "Hey, Joe... when you finish with those sewer inspections, can you help me with some of these freaking CHL apps?" You get the picture.
