Friend Getting the Runaround.

I have a friend that recently took his class and has sent off for his CHL. He got a letter from Austin today saying that they needed documentation on an assault charge that he had expunged from his record. He went to the Tarrant county courthouse and of course they couldn't find anything there, so now he is stuck in this loop. The only reason this even popped up on their radar (he feels) is because he mentioned it on his application. It seems he is being punished by trying to be honest.
It has been so long, he can't even remember the name of the lawyer that got these charges dismissed.
I know there are a lot of details lacking and will provide them as they become available but was wondering if anyone had any advice. Is it time to get a representative involved or what?

Tell your friend to get a letter from the court saying there's no record found and send it to Austin.

Like concealed is concealed, there comes a time when it's DADT, isn't there? I never told 'em about my ride to the pokey in '62 and it never came up during my approval in '07.

They easy solution is document the disposition or get a letter saying no records found and send it to the CHL unit.

DPS said they wanted records relating to the expungment and the Tarrant County Courthouse told him they don't write these letters. They gave him a printout of his records that said "no records found". he called DPS and told them what he got from Tarrant County and was told "That will not work".

Send a letter. The telephone conversation you mentioned never happened.

Just a follow-up. His lawyer found the paperwork related to the expungement, sent it in and got his plastic last week.
