HOUSTON - School officials at North Forest High School say an 18-year-old student shot a fellow 16-year-old student in the leg.
I thought it was illegal to take a gun to school.

I played some amateur baseball at that high school ball field many years ago and my company has a communications tower a rock throw away from that school. Believe me when I tell you, you want a weapon in that neighborhood.

Another article.

excerpt - School district officials said the hours the metal detectors are used will be expanded. They had only been used in the morning.
The school said it was going to change its backpack policy.
"We'll no longer allow backpacks that aren't clear," Davis said.
Brilliant reaction!!!

I blame Gallegos and Lucio and Straus.
If campus carry had passed, the anti-gun nuts would be blaming us, even though it wouldn't have applied to high schools.. But it didn't, so I think it's liberal fairness doctrine to blame the people who opposed/blocked campus carry, even though it wouldn't have applied to high schools.

I'm going to keep this very simple and to the point: Gang-related?

Metal detectors, fences ... now clear backpacks so they'll pocket or IWB carry ... (Like video on dress codes previously posted by someone on this forum, where the guy conceals several)
The need bigger signs and another law ... and the metal detectors and now *free* clear backpacks furnished for everyone that''ll fix it. ... maybe make the fences taller and electrify the ground under the fence so they don't dig out a bit ... and TSA type searches on everyone ...

Remote control helicopter with pistol attached as a payload. (Didn't some convicts do this at a jail awhile back but with cell phones?)

I live in Gallegos district. When is my next chance to vote him out?

Free backpacks.
Now there's a school that's obviously not having any budget difficulties. I think it would have been more responsible to cut tax rates and give struggling families a break, but I guess that's why I work in the private sector.
