This is the case that it stems from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padraig_Nally" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Hopefully the enacted laws will follow the Castle Doctrine pattern so they define when lethal force is truly justified.

For those not familiar with the term 'Traveler', they are basically Irish Gypsies and many of them are pretty rough http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Traveller" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; TLC even had a series on about them http://www.irishcentral.com/ent/Big-Fat ... 32524.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Found interesting that on the Wiki link you posted it says that in Ireland there are 25,000 burglaries/yr and of those 15,000, or 60 % occurred when thE victims are at home. Burglars in Ireland don't care if you are at home or not, since they know there is very little you can do to them without getting into serious trouble. I looked at the FBI stats for the US. Although they do not show burglaries when the victims are at home, I used the burglaries of a duelling at night ( 443,717) vrs total duelling burglaries (1,597,717) to compare. Only 27.8 % of burglaries in the US ocurr at night when the victims are more likely to be home.

Of course crimin...er....CIVIL liberties groups will have a problem with citizens being able to defend their homes.
