I'm told she is a dachshund. Who's to know without seeing the dam and sire. Another formerly unwanted puppy with a new home. Here's also a pic of my red dachshund. They now both have playmates. I just don't understand why people will get puppies and then discard them. My wife named the red Bella and the black Bonnie.

Neither do I, but kudos to you and your wife "adopting" her.

When I was growing up, we had dachshunds. They are great little dogs (don't eat much) with big voices (ours sounded like much bigger dogs) and they are great hunters and watchdogs.
Congrats on your new addition!

Bella has the same expression on her face while sleeping as our Trapper does: Furious concentration on shutting out the world and getting some ZZZs.

Awww. What nice dogs! Our Great Pyr is a 'previously owned' model. She is a 125 pounds of lovable dog. The previous owner panicked when that cute 12 pound eight-week-old puppy turned into a rambunctious 40-pound four-month-old puppy.

You Sir are a real human.. Great job.
My family has always been a pound or shelter pup believer. We have Pound pup 6 and 7 at this point in our lives..We hope to live long enough to adopt another pair if and when Sprocket and Nala don’t outlast us.
Taking in an otherwise abandoned pup is a real treat, and for me at least, something that brings great personal satisfaction.
With few exceptions.. I like my dogs more than most humans I meet. ..

Rescuing a dog is the only time you get to choose a relative.
Congratulations and you did good.
Happy Trails! N

And you can place them in tennis ball cans to carry with you. Kidding, they are going to bring years of joy to your household. You may have a cuteness overload with that new one though.

the black and brown one, to me, looks like a Rotty or Rotty / Mix.
