Purchase from a forum member.

I noticed a holster for sale and have been looking for one just like it. I've never bought anything from a online forum classified add so I wasn't sure how it would all work out. Would the person get my cashiers check/money order and run? Would the item be horrible and I'd have no way to resolve? Many many questions went through my mind.

Well I tell you one person I'd deal with many times over and would recommend him to anyone here and that's "ghostrider". I told him I'd take it, he pm'ed me an address, I took forever to send payment, he recived the payment and mailed it the next business day. I got the holster in the mail today and it's near mint and I have no complaints at all!!

There should be a "sticky" where buyers and sellers can post feedback on each other. Always nice knowing past experiences before buying or selling to someone.

Anyways. That's my 2cents worth for the day.

Thanks again "ghostrider"!!

I agree on the "sticky" and that ghost rider is a standup guy (done a few deals with him myself)

I have purchased several items from forum members will excellent results. I tend to buy only from long time "established" forum members.

The only problem I had was with the FFL [whom I chose] who received the gun. Eventually we worked it out, but it was not the fault of the forum member.

I don't know how hard it would be set up, but the sticky idea is good.

As Mods, we have found that very very few members have ever had any issues with a purchase from another member. If we should find a member that does not conduct themselves ethically during a sale, then that member may be banned.

So, bottom line, I would never have an issue purchasing from a member, especially a long time member as WildBill stated.

As for feedback, posting in the thread on the item is probably the best place to put it IMO as you can see what the person was selling, and how they handled the sale if you are looking for past history on their selling items.

Keith I tried to find the for sale post he started to comment there. Couldn't find it so I start this one. I assume he may have deleted the post when sold. I also posted here because I think this section gets more views!

I've bought a lot of things from forum members here. Some of those deals involved a lot of trust of each other and even 3rd parties to make it happen.
Never been anything less that pleased. I've have slightly less stellar transaction on other gun forums, but as a rule, anyone who spends a lot of time on a mainstream forum like this will be a standup person.
It is said you can judge a person by the company he keeps. That's a pretty good reference for this forum.

Usually the thread is locked after a sale, but maybe the Mods could allow some feedback to be added after the transaction is complete.

I've had limited dealings with people on here. I check number of posts first and then see the quality of posts and make a judgement call from what I see from that. I like the feedback idea. Maybe just a wall of shame will work.

A thought on official feedback.... Having that puts a big burden on our staff and mods in regards to disputes between members ect. If they already ban or punish members who conduct bad deals, why is more needed?

Check a members posts.
Talk to them on the phone.
Meet in a public place (armed of course).
And if anything feels funky, don't do business with them.

That's good enough for me! :tiphat:
