Welcome to the forum, 2k6_tx_Dad! Congratulations on the new purchase. While you're waiting for the review process to progress through all the stages, I hope you're getting in some practice time with the LCR at the range, and that you're practicing carrying at home (with it unloaded) to get used to "wearing" it. Also, the material on this site provides a lot of useful information, and now is a perfect time to spend reviewing it.
Good luck on getting swiftly approved to get your plastic!

Why carry a paperweight? What reason would you carry it unloaded @ home?

Why? We are in Texas, not California. He won't be carrying unloaded. He needs to get used to carrying as he will when he gets his CHL and that is LOADED.

My only reason for suggesting it be unloaded while practicing wearing it at home is to get used to it initially. Not knowing what experience a person has with a gun, and because the concealed part is new, I think it's a good idea to practice at first at home carrying it unloaded, especially if they are going to be getting used to taking the gun out of the holster and putting it back in the holster while they are wearing it. Again, it's just to get familiar with it. No reason to continue carrying unloaded at home once that is done.

Thanks for all the welcomes..
No change on status this morning
I'll keep checking.
I used to carry 17 years ago, but I had chosen the wrong carry gun (a S&W 6906) which was too heavy. I didn't carry often and didn't renew my carry permit when it expired. Seems to be a lot of lightweight carry options now, I'm going to give it another go.
Hoping to take the LCR to the range over lunch today.. I'll report back.

Whattheduce..
The lc9 was on my list. It started with an LCP, then went to a LC9 (more power), then to the Diamonback DB9 (thinner lighter). But after reading about some problems people were having with feeds, I decided to go with a simple revolver.
I pretty sure I'll be picking up a DB9 or LC9 anyway..

Lunch today was 100 rounds downrange with my new LCR.
The 158gr +p's pack a wallop..
the 130gr standard pressure weren't as bad.
Thought I had pretty good groups, seemed to shoot high the longer the distance. Felt confident I could hit center mass at the distance I'd engage at. More practice and a class later this month.
No change on status since 2/3 (manufacturing).
Whatthaduece posted that he called DPS and the main printer was down.
Hope I don't have to wait much longer..
