It's self-defense they want to make illegal.

“It was unclear if the shots fired by the school safety agent struck any of the suspects and if he would face charges of reckless endangerment for picking up the officer’s weapon and firing it, the official said. He isn’t a licensed gun owner. Even if he was licensed to carry a weapon, it is illegal to use a weapon belonging to someone else, the official said.”
And another example of the looney left mindset:
http://kidshootings.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... d-get.html
A 65-year old man was bicycling on the Thun trail near the Bertolet Fishing Dock at South First Avenue and Chestnut Street in West Reading when three teens approached him, apparently to rob him. They knocked him off the bike and assaulted him, at which point the man pulled a gun and started shooting, killing one teen and injuring another.
Given that the teens were not armed, was this an appropriate use of deadly force? Would it have turned out the same if the man had just given over his wallet?

As far as the man getting knocked off his bike and getting assaulted, BANG

Those kids were thugs robbing him. I have no problem with the man defending himself. Three on one, young vs old. Mom and Dad need to teach these punks a hard lesson. - Oh someone already did. Sad really.

As mentioned in another thread, the Sullivan Law has been on the books in NYC for 100 years. I wouldn't expect any major change in either the laws or the NY mindset any time soon.

Agreed.....the older man was definitely on the loosing end with 3 young guys beating him. And had he not pulled and just let them rob him, who's to say they wouldn't shoot him with his own gun after they got it and his wallet off him?

Just one of many reasons I got out of California as quick as I could after "retiring" from the service...they aren't quite as bad as New York in that regard, but it sure isn't for a lack of effort.

If you study the history of both the Sullivan Law and old Tim Sullivan, himself, it becomes obvious that it was passed for one, and only one, purpose. It was intended to make certain that voters opposing Tammany Hall would be unarmed on election day so that Tammany Hall thugs could beat them up and keep them away from the polls without danger to the Tammany people.

And two of the reasons that it is enforce today are:
1. The elected officials in NY have the same desires a Tim Sullivan but it goes much further than election day.
2. The level of corruption in the election process that got it passed in the first place exists today, too. The political machines that operate in NY and Chicago (among others) make sure that noone who runs on a platform of reforming this kind of stuff will ever get elected. The dead people have spoken and will continue to speak at the ballot box.

And considering how that city is, I'd say that the dead voters go all the way back to Sullivan himself...

I agree and it's not only the Italians and Jews they're discriminating against these days.

As much as I don't like to think about it if three people knocked
me off a motorcycle and started beating me
my revolver would be empty if I had the chance.
God bless Texas for CHL
