Bill O'Reilly: Political correctness and Muslims

This is NOT to be a discussion about religion, but about the media and it's blatant refusal to honestly report facts that may not be 'politically correct'.
The story is grisly: a husband and wife murdering their three young daughters, ages 19, 17 and 13, by drowning them along with their stepmother. The couple was assisted by their 21-year-old son. All were found guilty of first-degree murder in Ontario, Canada. They were sentenced to life in prison

I am not a big follower of Bill O'Reilly, but this one is a pet peeve of mine. I am constantly pushing this topic of 'failure to report' at my Daughter who is a Journalism major in college. Luckily she plans to go into fashion magazines. Hopefully she will learn to call some of those hats and outfits ugly without the fear of not being politically correct.

Are we afraid that calling a Muslim a Muslim will provoke another 911?

This practice has been common place for quite some time now, and is why "the media" has lost any semblance of credibility in the eyes of so many citizens.

"The media" is much like professional wrestling back in the day. YOU know that it's fake, THEY know that it's fake, but they will NEVER admit that it's fake.

I actually knew some people who would get mad if you told them it was fake.

...those who don't want to face facts(like those about what people do that's reprehensible and the motivating factors that cause them to do those things) used to just ignore the facts...now, they prefer to repress and deny them...in the name of PC...that's yellow-dog cowardice...we can't solve problems if we won't even admit that they exist...and be candid in our discussions...the media used to take great pride in reporting all the facts that they could gather, and letting the citizens decide right or wrong and what needed doing about them...now, they have THEIR agenda and dance card in mind...and do all that they can do to manipulate US by feeding us their spin on things...hoping to get us to "see" it their way...like a bunch of bobblehead dolls...it works far better than it should...

I believe that, discounting certain politicians and associated organizations, there is no bigger group of crooks in this country than the bulk of the "mainstream media". They are a sham and a travesty...they take hypocrisy to new lows...and I believe that they are so ideologically driven, that they think they HAVE to do this stuff, that its some sort of "duty" to push this ideology by either hyping certain things, or all but hiding certain other things, such as the OP described about that murder trial in Canada. Ask yourselves this: if the belief system of the people in question had been something else, what is the likelihood that it would have been trumpeted to the farthest hills? I despise the media. :mad5

I am not surprised. The news programs have been roled under the entertainment divisions in most media corporations. They produce "news" items that are geared to elicit higher ratings thus allowing greater revenue. This is called capitalism and it works to the benefit of shareholders, not the viewing public. I am not sure that one can even monitor a variety of coverage sources, all reporting on the same incident, and try to draw any realistic conclusions from the data as each source has it's on agenda and all of them are competing with the others.
I miss Walter, Chet and Dave.

It would be capitalism IF these news media folks weren't taking direction from/actively engaged with the current administration and their ideology almost exclusively...THAT makes it "crony capitalism" at best...not the real capitalism as described and explained by the late, great Milton Friedman.

Would we even be talking about this if they weren't Muslim? I mean, how many Canadian murders make US headlines.

That was just the article that Bill O'Reilly used to point out the issue. The discussion is not about the killings, it is about the media not reporting things because of political correctness.

What I don't understand is why would anyone that wants to live by Sharia-Law want to live in the West?

I will never forget the moment I lost all respect for the media. Back when the mess with the Branch Davidians was going on in Waco, one of the networks got a big gun control kick. They had a variety of firearms spread across the stage with a Browning 12 guage shotgun front and center. The talking monkey went on and on about how this was such a devastating weapon and no one should be able to own one because you could blow someone's head off at 1000 yards. That was moment I realized that the media doesn't care about the truth. What they care about it stirring up drama for the sake of ratings and pushing their own agenda.
