The british have had themselves under direct video surveillance for years now. Thanks to their cowardice, America's more leftist cities have begun doing the same thing. It just boggles the mind how much different and more soviet-like we've become........and people are just blind to it.

I don't know how much longer this can go on before The People get so fed up that they react at the bullet box rather than at the ballot box. The ballot box seems less and less relevant as government becomes more and more locally disconnect from the will of the people. This type of surveillance of regular, innocent citizens is proof of it.

Here's a short video of a London man enjoying a walk in the snow in his London apartment complex.

The cops see him on CCTV and warn him over a loudspeaker that he has entered a restricted area!!

there was a good reason that Orwell set his novel "1984" in the UK.
He knew what his countrymen were capable of

Unfortunately, some of the same mentality has found its way to the US. I become more afraid every day of what my countrymen are capable of.

Has anybody else noticed that every intersection with a traffic light has cameras pointing in all traffic directions. Where does all that video go?

They are what are called 'Traffic Cams' and not all of them are constantly recording to video. However, they can be accessed remotely by approved agencies at a moments notice if they need to view something or start recording.

Some of these aren't cameras at all. Though they look like cameras, alot of these are motion detectors (laymans term) to tell the stop light system which direction of travel currently has more traffic flow and that system is what makes the decision of which lane gets the green light. These systems also except a signal from a piece of equipment on most fire trucks and ambulances called opticom emitters. This switches the red light to an emergency function that stops traffic from all opposing directions of travel from the fire engine so that they may respond to their emergency more safely.

I installed several of these systems. Long winded explanation, I know...

I think/hope we will see massive civil disobedience far before bullets. People spray painting camera lenses, taking down/blocking vision for them...things like that.

I was watching a documentary on the reunification of Germany last night and how when the East Germans stormed Stazi headquarters, they were stunned by the massive amount of information/surveillance the Stazi had collected on every day citizens. I'd like to think we're more independently/privacy minded and wouldn't cooperate as easily with a police state, but I guess if things keep sliding the way they are we will find out one way or another someday. :???:

Combine the Patriot Act with modern technology and we're beyond anything the Stasi dreamed possible.

Back when those two bozos were trying to burn down churches, we had a LEO stop by my church to talk to the pastor. At some point in the converstation, my beloved pastor pointed out that the light 100 yards up the road had cameras aimed both ways. Would that not be a good way to get a license plate? Um, no. The officer explained that those cameras actually do not catch people going through red lights, but to please not tell everyone that. Of course, he did, the next Sunday.

Yes, CCTV and texting - no vowels is straight out of 1984. I'll have to go read the book again to see what we're in for in the next 10 years.
