Hey guys, I'm looking for a full sized gov't or commander sized 1911 somewhere in the $7-$800 range. let me know what y'all have

Look for a new STI Spartan V or IV. Great 1911 for that exact price range, and brand new.

If you can find one, I would also recommend the Ruger SR1911. I have one and love it.

3rd Recommendation would be a Sig... they have many options for that price range, and all the Sigs I've shot, I've been very impressed with.

I have looked at many a Sig, I love the C3 and the 1911 carry, but all the quotes I've gotten have been in my price range BEFORE taxes and shipping and FFL fees. That usually puts them about $200 outta my price range. I like the STI's look too but the only ones I find in my range have target/adjustable sights on them and they are not practical for my CC needs. Rock Islands have been good to me but was looking for something a little different

Rock Island Armory pistols are about the best value going for budget 1911s.

I actually ordered my first 1911 from them, but they are all backordered out of all the models I want. I've tried budsgunshop, centerfiresystems and summit gun broker but no joy
