All the actors and musicians I work with are very much in the dysfunctional unworldly camp. They have zero idea what the real world is like. On tour in Indianapolis with a big broadway show we had to get out of our buses to walk the last 4 blocks to our hotel since the streets were completely blocked by the annual Black Expo. After a few pops the most naive sheltered chorus girl turned to me and said "oh neat they have fireworks".
"See all the people running?" I replied.
"Those are gun shots!!!".

Can't help the willfully ignorant.

I'm torn between trying to decide about a guy like the former "Honorable" Mayor Richard J. Daley, Jr. Authoritarian, elitist, or security monopolist? The man had so many wonderful redeeming qualities about him, such a multifaceted personality...seems a shame to pigeonhole such an exemplary human being, huh?
