Are you moving in the same direction as me ?

At one point I kept 10 different calibers of ammos in stock to feed my pistols. They were 9mm, .32ACP, .380ACP, .22LR, .45ACP, .38spc, .357 mag, .357sig, .44 mag, and .40S&W. Since I want to shoot all my guns, I constantly kept an eye out for deals in any of these calibers. (And this doesn't count the variations within each caliber, e.g. target and defense rounds.)

Finally, I realized that this is too many calibers, so I bought new pistols with more care in regards to their ammo (and sold off some pistols)... leaving me with just 4 calibers now:

9mm, .40S&W, .45ACP, and .22LR.

I'm thinking about eliminating 1 more in the near future: either the 40 or 45 cal. Giving up the .40S&W would mean loosing my IPSC limited gun. While removing the .45ACP would mean I won't be able to try my hand at the NRA 2700 match (plus having to sell off my 45 cal. reloading gear).

I'm probably going to sell off my .40S&W since I really desire to reach caliber nirvana. I've noticed that things are working much better with fewer calibers and once I started eliminating it is hard to stop.

I'm not sure if 2 or 3 pistol calibers is optimal for me, but I do think even 4 is too many.

So, are you in a similar situation? Just wondering if anybody is also moving towards fewer cailbers in his/her collection.

I got the 8. Man I need another pistol. Alaskan maybe
.22, .32acp, .380acp, 9mm, .40S&W, .45acp, .38sp, .357

I actually have a little help here. .32 is the Wife's purse carry. .380 is Mom's. 9mm is back to the wife. .40S&W is the Son's. I would like one but not enough to spend the $$$s.
My personal are the .45 as primary carry. The .38sp Air Wt. is Sunday & other deep conceal times. .357 goes to the field during hunting season as defense weapon & hunting. I do carry it in cold weather.

I don't keep much more than 100 rounds of 38/357 ammo around since I don't shoot them much. I occasionally carry my Glock 23 or a Sig 229 so I keep some .40 around for those...Probably less than 200 rounds. I do however maintain a pretty significant supply of 9mm and .45 since I shoot those heavily.

I'm in the bottom of the same bracket as LT: .22LR, .380ACP, 9mm, .40S&W, .45ACP. In terms of number of rounds, I stock .22 and .45 most. In terms of dollar value of stock-on-hand, .45 by a long way.

The ones that will always stay, regardless, would be the .22, 9mm, and .45. The .22 isn't necessary, but unless the price of LR rounds goes way up, its plinkin' and target practice value will keep it on the shelves.

Just 3. the 380, 9, and 45. Although the 9 is for the wife and daughter, I still have to consider it my stock since I have to buy it.

.380 is my ol' lady's, so it doesn't count.
I have two 9mm, one's my Beretta 92 (range), and the other is my Smith Sigma, which was my first carry peestol. I'd just assume get rid of it, as I don't like the way it shoots.... blah blah blah.

AND THEN there is my Taurus .357. I carry that dang thing everywhere. with two speed strips, now.
so:
.380
9mm
.357 (.38 spl, but I rarely shoot the .38s, as I like shooting the .357s)

Umm... looks like 14

.22LR, .32, .380, .38SPC, .357MAG, .357SIG, 9MM, 10MM, .40S&W, .41MAG, .44MAG, .45ACP, .45 GAP, .45LC

Such is life with a reloader.

Got the press, gotta buy dies.
Got the dies, got to reload.
Now have ammo, gotta get a gun!
Got the gun, gotta shoot it.
Ooh, that was fun! Need more ammo.
Gotta load some more. :willynilly:

5 for me...22, 38, 9M, 40S&W, and 45...and then there's the rifle ammo.

In terms of amount, the high rollers are 45 & 9Mil.

.22LR, .22MAG, .32acp, .380acp, 7.62x25, .38spl, .357mag, 9mm, .40S&W, .44spl, .44mag, .45acp, .45 Colt, .223

I keep the largest stock of .45acp. Otherwise, just a few hundred of each.

I also keep respectable amounts of .223 for my PLR16. It's not very concealable, short of a duster, but it is a pistol.

I try to keep a stockpile of .40 S&W and 9mm so I am always ready for a run to the range. I keep some 38 spl, 22 LR & .357 mag for occasional shooting.

I guess I'm middle of the road but I've tried to concentrate on the .355/.357 diameter bullets in case I ever get back into reloading. I also try to keep at least two firearms for each caliber so I never have "stranded" ammo. So my list includes 22LR, 380, 9mm, 357/38, 44 mag/spl.
