:banghead: Question, I am a retired military, now DoD Civilian currently stationed in Germany. I need to renew my CHL. Can I have the military range qualification training suffice for this requirement?

Quick summary...
1. You must take the Texas renewal class.
2. You have 1 year after your current license expires to take the TX renewal class and get the renewal license. After 1 year past expiration, you would have to re-apply as an original (not renewal) applicant.
3. If your license is expired when you arrive home, you cannot CC until you receive your renewal.
4. Workaround: While your license is still valid, apply for another state license that is 1. Recognized by TX and 2. Obtainable without taking a class. There are many states that will recognize your military training, or TX CHL as proof of training and issue you a license... FL and PA come to mind, there are others... When you get home you can carry on that reciprocal license while you are renewing your TX license. Extra cost and hassle, but no gap in license to carry.
5. Exception: If this is your third renewal (original license and renewed twice previously), I believe you can renew by mail.... If this is the case, say so here and I'm sure an instructor will tell you how...

Thanks for your service.! :patriot: :tiphat:
