Today marks the day that Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna arrived outside The Alamo and raised a red flag for the defenders of The Alamo to surrender. Colonel William Barret Travis answered this demand with a cannon shot.

Sorry, but that's a remake. No one does it like
Marty Robbins.
I'm not completely sure Marty was the first to sing that song.

Share the story of the brave men today. We have a story in our Texas history of bravery and sacrifice that rivals anything in recorded world history.
Remember the Alamo. Remember Goliad. God bless Texas.

The bravery of the men at the Alamo stands out. Notwithstanding the various motives of the individual Texians, or any complications of revisionist history, the fact that they stayed and fought was undeniably brave.
The fact that Santa Anna treated the prisoners and wounded of the Alamo and Goliad as pirates was undeniably cruel. It might have been legal, but it was still cruel and it backfired.
