Company Possesion of Firearms Question

In my company employee manual it reads "Posession of Firearms - Posessing firearms while on company property (including parking lots) is strictly prohibited except where allowable by law."
I am still waiting on my CHL to be mailed but i wanted to get clarification on this before it came in. Does the part "except where allowable by law" refer to having a CHL?

No 30.06 on building (not necessary on Parking Lots cause new Law last year forbids them from posting parking lots).......
Equals.........
CARRY AWAY!
But keep it concealed as you do not know what the Political Stripe the Management is and keep in mind you can be fired in Texas for no real reason "for cause" anyway.

If that is exactly what your company policy says, then “my interpretation” would YES carry away….You are allowed to carry in any location that is not 30.06 posted or otherwise prohibited by Texas law.

The recently passed parking lot bill allows you to store your weapon in your vehicle if there was a no firearms rule. But, the way your employee handbook is worded, it appears as if they are OK with CHL. However, that would be so unusual that I would be leery of drawing that conclusion without some kind of corroboration. In
either case, unless there is are 30.06 signs posted, you would not be breaking any laws by carrying. You would however be subject to termination if it turns out that the company has a no guns policy and you got caught somehow.

I appreciate everyones quick response! Since I am new to CHL I didn't know if it would be wise to just contact my HR and hear it from the "horse's mouth.". I am just concerned that HR Will not know the in's and out's and just assume the policy means no weapons what so ever.

prohibited except where allowable by law.
Prohibited everywhere except where allowed by law ... I like that wording since you are allowed to carry except where prohibited by law.
So, any US Army Corps of Engineers land/Post Office/School/51% bar/Court or otherwise prohibited carry places you have at work ... you can't carry in places listed in Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED.
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/d ... /PE.46.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER. ... Sec. 46.10. DEADLY WEAPON IN PENAL INSTITUTION.
etc
I like that wording
contact my HR
I wouldn't contact anyone, "concealed is concealed" and the policy manual says you are ok unless you go into the company bar/courthouse/....

OP:
Concealed means concealed. Don't talk guns at work, don't have gun stickers on your vehicle,
and you should be able to fly under the radar at work, IMHO.
YMMV.

The new parking lot law does not prohibit employers from posting 30.06 notices on their parking lots. They just can't prevent employees from keeping their firearms in their vehicles. It is effectively an extension to the MPA. They could still post the parking lots and that would prevent CHLers from getting out of their vehicles with their handguns.
