I wish I could get my time back ...
We picked up the movie "In Time" to watch tonight. I was a little leery because it was Justin Timberlake. So I checked out the language on
http://www.kidsinmind.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and was very surprised to find little profanity. (A great site, BTW, for checking movie content.)
I wouldn't normal pick a movie with someone like Timberlake in it, but I do like novel sci-fi type stories. It is the same writer/director as the movie Gattica, which I did really like.
So, we start watching this movie and quickly realize that not only is it simply a horrible movie (not surprised), but I had no idea it is essentially a socialist manifesto. I mean the whole thing was probably funded by George Soros. How could I not have heard about this before? Surely Fox News, at least, would have made mention of this.
Anyway, if you have not yet heard, consider yourself warned.

I thought it was clever. I didn't perceive the movie as trying to push any political agenda.

I vaguely remember hearing about this when it came out. I didn't do well and I, like you, am no JT fan. I had no interest in seeing it and haven't. It sounded kinda like a Logan's Run remake.

same here.
However, I just assume anything out of hollywood is going to be left-wing, anti-gun drivel anyway :-)

It should not have been told from justin timberlakes perspective but Cillian Murphy who is a much better actor. Also is "In Time" a subtle referance to "N Sync"? Also time is a poor form of currency. 1 hour as a rich man is still equal to one hour as a poor man. But the rich man can do so much more with his hour. It would be like if a dollar changed value everything you went to a different city

That should have been warning enough. Justin Beiber or Justin Timberlake would be an instant "pass" for me.

Justin Bieber is doing movies now??? Oh Great!!! Just what I wanted to read. LOL.... I saw that kid on TV. He was doing a concert and the little girls were losing their minds over him. It was actually kind of cute but I cannot imagine what kind of movie he would do.
I often rent dumb movies because I am not good at recognizing the actors in movies. My daughter will laugh at me when I say a movie stinks. She knows all the actors and knows what to expect from them. I always learn the hard way. I use red box, so the lessons are not very expensive.

Wow, I can't believe that you didn't see it. Let's look a few quotes that I took off of IMDB (and remember 'time' = 'money'):
Henry Hamilton: For a few to be immortal, many must die.
(talking about the system being rigged for the elite few)
Philippe Weis: You'd steal from your own father.
Sylvia Weis: Is it stealing if it's already stolen?
(implying that by rigging the system, time ,i.e. wealth, is stolen from the masses)
Will Salas: I've only ever had a day.
How much do you need? How can you live with yourself watching people die right next to you?
Sylvia Weis: You don't watch. You close your eyes.
(Sylvia was a wealthy socialite - reformed by John Q. Everyman Will)
Henry Hamilton: You really don't know, do you? Everyone can't live forever. Where would we put them? Why do you think there are time zones? Why do you think taxes and prices go up the same day in the ghetto? The cost of living keeps rising to make sure people keep dying.
How else could there be men with a million years while most live day to day? But the truth is... there's more than enough. No one has to die before their time. If you had as much time as I have on that clock, what would you do with it?
(Remember, time is money - substitute a million years with a million dollars ...)
Its right out of the Occupy movement.
My wife and I are apparently not the only ones to see the connection:

I didn't really look at it like that. It just made me want to be rich.

I have always suspected a cure for cancer exist, but only for the few extremely elite... like Obama. If a cure for cancer is released to the masses, the economy will collapse under the weight of free loaders.
I saw the movie as teaching us that being rich is much better than being poor. I would have to agree.

Well I just read one of the links you posted. I am mad now...

Those sneaky son of a guns! They slipped that one right past me. I must be a capitalist because I kept thinking I would try to be one of the rich guys as I watched. I even thought about how I could make me some money. I must confess to feeling no pity for the losers who would run out of time. Nope...I just thought about it some more... No Pity.

So far, just TV shows....The Jon Stewart Show and CSI....but they're coming.

I don't know how much "better" it is. There's just a different set of problems. I'm not rich and I'm not poor, but I am better off than many.
