Should Texas Embrace Open Carry? OR All Carry

Should the state of Texas adjust the laws on CHL and allow open carry as well as concealed carry?
OR Should Texas drop any kind of gun license all together and allow everyone (Save & Except prison inmates) to carry openly or concealed as they choose?
OR neither the law is fine the way it is.

Tough one.......
I had the opportunity to open carry in Arizona and felt like I was advertising for thugs to try to take my weapon. I'm all for the right to open carry, but I think i'd prefer to carry concealed to some extent to avoid the extra attention.
On the other hand, it'd be great to be able to not worry about covering all the time and be able to find out who has the same interests in carrying.
Allowing all Texans to carry is a bad idea in my opinion. Simply not enough people know their weapons as it is. Enabling anyone to carry invites the villiage idiot to carry his 92FS cocked and locked Mexican carry. In a way, I kinda like the way it is, but I'm open for change.

If you're worried about someone taking your weapon, doing some retention drills will cure that (at least it did for me)
I open carry whenever I'm in AZ or NM. (I'm there now for some personal business) and I enjoy the choice to do so.
I'm ambivalent on requiring a license for open carry. The purists would be against it, but I'd settle for it.

I think if you dropped the license there would be a lot of problems without
some kind of check and balance mainly knowledge on how to handle a firearm and the laws concerning when and where to use or carry one.

I am all for the option of open carry, although I think concealed carry make more sense in most situations.
However, I believe that allowing the public in general to carry in any fashion without proper training in the use of deadly force and basic understanding of firearm related laws would be a mistake.
Even though the current CHL program is not without it's faults, it's worlds better than the chaos that would exist if anyone could carry without the knowledge of the laws that the training program provides.

I'd like to see open carry added, nice to have options.
I won't rehash the merits of concealed vs. open, this has already been discussed at length.

Allow everybody to carry any way he/she pleases.
Everybody is entitled to self defense.

We have open carry already. Its just that you have to carry a long gun not a pistol.
I am kind of ambivalent about open carry of handguns. I don't think I would do it because I don't particularly want people to know that I am carrying. However it would be nice to have it available.

How about none of the above?
Open carry for anyone who can legally own and possess a handgun, no permit required.
Concealed carry by permit.
With the understanding that limitations on open carry (i.e. where and where not) may wind up being a bit more restrictive than those on concealed carry, at least at first, to help ease the transition.
Having the permit is what allows us reciprocity with other states. I don't want to lose the ability to carry when we're visiting family in non-open-carry states. (now, if the entire country went back to open carry, no permit required, that would be even better!)

I guess I am just a radical, but I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment. I strongly support repeal of Chapter 46 of the Penal Code altogether.
Criminals will carry anyway and honest law abiding people are no threat.

all the arguments saying that "all carry" would be scarry....Alaska seems to be doing just fine.
Texas - we need work.
Ideally it should be "pack 'em if ya got em."

Keep CHL and allow open carry. Not that I would open carry, bu it would be nice to have the option.
I do think that if open carry were allowed, some form of training be required be it under the authority of the CHL or some other form.
