Old Deffered?

My fiance has a Deffered Ajudication from 1991 or 1993 that was theft by check and was classifed as a 3rd degree felony.
He is allowed to purchase guns with no issue but since it was a Felony can he get his CHL? I have read conflicting information based on this.
Some are saying if it is a deffered it is considered a conviction but it was a non violent almost 20 years ago. Any help would help, I don't want him wasting
money if he can't get the CHL

A successfully completed deferred adjudication is considered a "conviction" for CHL eligibility purposes but you fiance is fine. It is over 10 years old and it wasn't for one of the offenses that would be a permanent bar. Unless there is some other problem, he is eligible.

Thank you so much for your reply, can you tell me where I can find the list of offenses that will prohibit someone from getting a CHL?
I did call him and he did confirm that the original charge was Theft by check but it was changed to Hot checks or something like that.
I am assuming we will have to get detailed information about his arrest for the application is that correct?
